Think I got a Blown Head gasket.Time to sell

Featured Replies

Yep it blows out fog when started and driven. Plus new radiator is empty. SO up for sale or fix it. May be some stop leak but what Kind works?/

Head gasket is a relatively easy job. I do mine in a casual weekend, or a hustle half day.

Agreed. Head gasket is not a bad job. No way I'd sell a car just because of a bad head gasket.

Agreed with the above opinions. If you've never done it before, or at least helped someone pull the head it can seem like a daunting task. Really, though, it's not that bad-assuming you take your time and have everything on hand before you start. Sure, there may be issues if your head is cracked or warped, but that might not be the case if this is a fairly new occurrence, or you've not driven it dry and hot...

Of course another option for you is to pull the engine and replace it with a known to be good unit-surely you can find one somewhere.

When our shop was down the road next to a wrecking yard, it would crack me up when someone would pull a rig out of the yard that had just shown up with some minor thing wrong.

And I do mean minor easy fix stuff.....

Put a head gasket in that thing. Easier than swapping a motor.... Also gives you a chance to check the bores....
