there were only two woodruff keys on the crankshaft. shouldn't their be three ? if so where do you get them ? thanks, timsz 71 240z

Timing gear.... pulley. What is there that a third one would hold? Been a while since I've had my engine in pieces, but I only recall 2.

What does the manual say? (if you don't have one, go to www.xenons30.com and download the factory manual at no charge.)

Timing gear, chain sprocket and damper. You can get them at your Nissan dealer, MSA, Black Dragon or you can always buy them from Redat on eBay.

Are you talking crankshaft alone or crank and cam?

I read when changing pulleys you should always replace woodruff keys.

This part fails on 1990 Miatas (well the crank nose slowly fails where it holds the key)

It's been a while since I've been in an L engine but the third key may be the one that holds the distributor and oil pump drive gear in place.
