So I had been looking for replacement caps for the corroded "Shelby" plastic center caps that came on my 240... mine are mounted with 4 screws into the wheel face and have proven difficult to find... so today I decided to find out what a little steel wool would do to them - hoping it wouldn't destroy them.

Wow! While they are far from perfect they will all clean up to serviceable level... now I have to find replacement stickers for the center... sure would like "Shelby" stickers.

Check eBay. There was a guy on there selling replacement stickers, but it was a while ago. This is what they look like.

I found center caps and sticker on e-bay, at the time i purchased mine the seller only had a few sets. I did a quick search but could only find the ctr stickers. The sellers e-mail was MASSEY194@ AOL.com, 4 CENTER CAPS FOR INDY WHEELS US MAG 4 EAR 4 LUGS LUG , Item# 350267526133.

He seems to have them... sure would like to find the Shelby stickers

They must have made different caps, i have only one original cap that has all four ears and it does not have a sticker. The snake is a molded part of the cap.

Does anybody have a line on someone who can reproduce this part? Seems like a few Mustang and "Shelby" Cobra owners might like a set too. That is assuming KJP would supply the donor part.

I'm looking into some options for getting these made. I had some success having a "group-buy" of grill badges made for the vintage Toyota crowd (I was thinking of the same for the Datsun world).. I'm going to see what I can drum up for center caps too....

The ones I have are a sticker. I need one more for my wheels. Found one on ebay but cant bring my self to pay his price or the ridicules price he is charging for shipping.

Yes, there are many versions of Shelby caps. Here are some pictures from the 1972 Shelby Wheels catalog and one picture from a later Carroll Shelby Wheels catalog (early 80's I think?). I found some NOS cast metal caps to use on my Shelby Vipers (Libre style).
