May 14, 200519 yr comment_123719 Almost-the blow dryer is forcing ambient air into the tank, the exhaust is forcing a much lower concentration of oxigen and a much higher concentration of carbon monoxide into the tank because the air from the engine hase used some of it oxigen to burn gasoline leaving inflamable (given the engine was properly tuned) fumes.Willin·flam·ma·ble ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-flm-bl)adj. Easily ignited and capable of burning rapidly; flammable. See Usage Note at flammable. Quickly or easily aroused to strong emotion; excitable. non·flam·ma·ble ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nn-flm-bl)adj. Not flammable, especially not readily ignited and not rapidly burned Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/357-gas-tank-restoration/?&page=3#findComment-123719 Share on other sites

May 14, 200519 yr comment_123745 Oh, I get it now. The exhaust fills the tank with CO or CO2 ( no oxygen- no explosion), so you know it won't blow up- assuming you immediately cap off any holes so air can't get back in. I like the dry ice idea better. It pressurizes the gas tank with CO2 for sure, even after you seal the holes. You would cap all but a small hole, after putting some dry ice in, then let the dry ice force the air (oxygen) out, and finally seal the last hole.Using the dry ice method, how would you know all the air was out, diferent odor? I know you will eventually see the dry ice 'fog' spilling out of the last hole...thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/357-gas-tank-restoration/?&page=3#findComment-123745 Share on other sites

May 14, 200519 yr comment_123751 So? Are you expecting some kind of multi-page theses, or should I just quote you chemical formulas and mathematical equations? May 14, 200519 yr comment_123752 Pictures of females for the "boobs" thread will do nicely! I almost always prefer curves to 'quasions...On the tank, if all of the holes are closed except the vent line, and the tank is right side up, it will be full of CO2 and devoid of O2 when the white plume comes out of the vent line. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/357-gas-tank-restoration/?&page=3#findComment-123752 Share on other sites
