Whats UP yah :)

Like to know who's interested....

I have this idea to replicate a Vintage Rare "NGK Grand Prix Suzuka" decal.

Size is 3.5 inches in diamter,

Heres a pic of it.

post-13541-14150809439272_thumb.jpg

I only seen 2 of these ever and they're based from "according to the source",

the 1963 to 1964 Grand Prix Suzuka which the Fairlady 1500 won in it's

class in it's first year of racing.

More information about the Grand Prix at this link

http://www.datsun.org/fairlady/JapanGP1963.htm

Member Mike B. was instrumental in helping me get these so I gave him the

other one for helping me out, Thyanx again bro ;)

However the Grand Prix went on for several more years so this decal

may actually be anywhere upto the early 70's,

(based on lettering and font style it is correct for all those years), or as the

source said from the inagural race 63' 64' it's self.

Since our Z's use NGK's I figured these would be a period correct look and

deffinatley cool since it also depicts a famouse Japanese race track :classic:

OK to the point,

I like to know how much interest there is to make this happen, so if

your interested chim in.

The numbers and price I have in mind so far is that we'll need

15 to 20 members at $25 each and that would get 3 decals per

member for that price,

( one for both sides of the Z and a spare for the the hood the car or

a lunch box ^_^ ).

I'm sending off my original along with detailed photo copies of Mikes to

a vinyle sticker manufacture to have a artist proof drawn up.

The proof is a all new original rendering based from the decals,

just so you know this not a scan and print job. :finger:

These will be Automobile grade vinyle, 150 lines of

High resolution picture quality, die cut and of course long lasting.

The proof well be a mix between mine and Mikes giving a nice clean perfect

version of the design with out any flaws or overbledding caused by the

original printing processes of the 60's and 70's.

So it will be perfect!

Once the Proof is is rendered I will submit it here for your guys

approval first before sending it to press.

Once we agree on the proof we can make payment then.

If you have any thoughts or ideas or sugestions of any kind please let

me know as one thing I thought was to make it 4 inches instead of

3.5, but I think it would be better to keep it in the original size as

intended IMO.

On a side note also I'm looking into geting any of these ANSA decals and

Prince Datsun fender emblem replicated aswell.

Link -> ASNA Race Sponsor decals

The big red one is 8 by 6.5 inches but can be made in 6 by 4.5.

That one will be a bit more pricy since it will have to be die cut to a

custome shape.

And the "1960's F1 race car" shaped one is a reverse window type in the

colors of Red, Blue Black and Green with the ANSA logo in the center.

You can barely make out the details under the cover sheet.

Once again same quality as for the NGK decal.

Woooo, thats aot of typing ~Z~

You do realize these designs are copyrighted and you need permission to sell them don't you?
Thought there was the public domain rule if this peticular design was more than 20 or 30 years old. If not then who do i need to contact, NGK head quarters? Edited by WingZr0

Bearing in mind that I am not a lawyer, here is my understanding. Trademarks are not the same as copyrights. Copyrights can expire and enter the public domain if not renewed. Trademarks have no such time limitation, and are protected until/unless the owner abandons it.

And since NGK still uses the same starburst and NGK lettering on their current products, I think it's safe to say they haven't abandoned it yet.

Good points. I'll try and get hold of NGK tomorrow. The ANSA logo i might have some sway with getting the green light since I know some folk in the company. I hope they all say yes cause these things are way to cool for them not to offer in the first place.

It looks like Nissan could use a few reproductions to replace the originals on this Fairlady roadster in their Zama warehouse. -Mike
. Thanks Mike for the pics but Ooooo, my cell phone has crappy resolution. I can't make out NGK decals on it. Is this the one from race? Beautiful car though from what i CAN see :) . Trying to find period photos of it or other cars from the race to see/confirm what they actually had on them. Edited by WingZr0

It looks like the same silver Fairlady 1500 from the 1963 race in your link (#39). I assume it is the original car, since it is in the Nissan storage facility with the other original Nissan race cars. The decals are below and just forward of the Fairlady fender emblems, which are mounted below the side mirrors. Here is a blow up of the passenger side decal, but it is very faded.
