Dash Caps

I just purchased a 1978 280Z had it shipped from CA to Wisconsin "Completly Rust free". I plan on restoring this over the winter, my question is the Dash. My dash has a small crack and I have read several links regarding replacement which can be very costly so I was looking at options of repairing or a dash cap. I have been looking at 1000's of sites and was wondering who has the best dash cap. It seems that even if you do repair a dash it will probably end up cracking again. I also noticed that you can get a full dash cap or just the upper cap. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Full faced dash cap from MSA. Cheap, good looking, and at your front door in a week. Done.

Go with the full cap. Only a few bucks more and a much better look.

Ditto. 90 bucks, looks great. Problem over.

Not sure about the 280's but on my 260 once I installed the full dash cap, the difficulty associated with removing some of the gauges increased 100 fold. Something to consider.

In retrospect,

Dash cracked=small problem... $90 problem solved

however,

Full dashcap and broken gauge = Big problem, starting with the phrase "you have to be kidding" followed by an immediately diminished appreciation of your full dashcap

Thank's one last question. Where do you buy a MSA Dash cap. Is that the brand or a site. I googled it and I found information regarding msa but nothing related to dash caps Thanks
