Locking the ring gear bolts

Featured Replies

Has any one had any luck using Locktite to secure the diff. ring gear bolts? Bending the tabs over fatigues them and I'd like to come up with a method that allows me to change my Quaife in and out as necessary.

I always use red loctite. You could also safety wire them. I haven't done that but have seen it done.

With red loctite don't you have to heat the part to get the bolts loose later?

He seems to be saying that he wants to change the ring occasionally.

Just asking, not criticizing.

I have used red, without bending the tabs. They came off without heating using a half inch impact gun.

Agreed. Green is pretty hardcore, but red you can take back off without heat.

I love lock wire. If it's good enough for aircraft and military weapons it's good enough for me too.
