L24 Cam sprocket nut removal

Featured Replies

Someone help!

I'm trying to remove the camshaft sprocket nut but when I turn it, the motor turs over. I tried putting a wrench on the crank sprocket, but the engine still turns. How do I keep this from happeining?

Thanks.

Put the wrench on the flywheel. Or if the motor is still in the car put it in gear.

Got it. Good ol' PB Blaster to the rescue. That thing was 37 years tight.

Yes, put a wrench on the flywheel, or if you have a wrench that fit's very well, you can try to hit it with a mallet to shock it.

Chris

i would use an impact

Agreed! I used the screwdriver/wrench trick on the first Z motor I tore down which didn't work so I end up having to buy an impact wrench. I would look back either! Way easier and faster to do many things now including swapping wheels. :)
