Original Tire and Spare Specs for 75 280Z?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the original tire manufacturer, size and model for a 1975 Datsun 280Z sold in the US? Was the spare any different?

Any help is appreciated!

If the '75 280Z still had a full size spare (as I recall), the spare would have been the same as the four on the ground. The original size was 195/70HR14. As I recall, the original brand was generally (if not always) Bridgestone. I don't recall the model.

My car was made in 11/75 and is a 76 model, I have the original spare tire and it was a Bridgestone RD-106 Steel, that is what it says on the tire in large letter.

I saw this thread last night and it got me wondering if mine was original or not. My 280 was made 1/76. So is this the original spare? Its a Toyo Z. It looks as if its never been used. It still has the white pouder on it and red lines on the surface of the tire.

Toyo was an alternate supplier to Nissan for earlier cars, and probably for later Zs as well. The 702 model is about the correct vintage, so as a guess I'd say it's original.

Ok Sweet! Thanks arne! Im going to have to look you up next time im in Springfield and take a look at your rides! Do you know any Wyatts down there?

Does anyone know if Michelin was an alternate supplier? I have a Michelin XRX that seems to have been made about the same time frame ...
