To our friends in Oz

Featured Replies

To all our Aussie friends I've been reading about the flooding happening in your country. I hope all our members and their families in Oz are safe. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers Gary,

They're much appreciated mate.

On a personal level, The floods are nowhere near me and mine.

Rick.

Hi

I appreciate your thoughts and nice to know you are thinking of us. We live in strange times, I am down in Melbourne about 1300 miles due south and we are in extended drought conditions, with water restrictions (can't even wash the car at home) and last week several days of over 40 c (105 F+) temperatures.

Cheers

Warren

Like he said.

We had the weird setup last week of all these systems simultaneously: -

1. extended heat wave across the southern 1/2 of Oz

2. storms on the Eastern seaboard closing beaches and causing coastal flooding, and

3. a tropical cyclone battering Darwin on the north coast.

Forecast this week is for an extensive locust plague and herds of kangaroo wreaking havoc in Shopping Malls:nervous:

Al Gore has a LOT to answer for :rolleyes:

What floods? There are floods? Nobody tells me anything anymore.

Don't forget the drop bears. I heard it was all some Mexican guys fault, Al Nino or something :) or those butterflies flapping their wings in Africa.

I'm on a travel right now and haven't receive any info whats happening to Oz . . . I need to visit my grandma in Mexico.

Hey Craig,

Will knows all about Drop Bears mate.

The funny thing is though, .... Back in the early 80's I warned a group of Marines about Drop Bears, Hoop Snakes and Wobegongs and they believed me but when I described a Platypus to them, they thought I was having them on.

Hey Gary,

Oz is a land of extremes.

While the north of the continent is threatened by a cyclone, the east coast of Queensland and northern New South Wales are being deluged by rain due to a couple of low depressions that's steadily moving south, the southern states of Victoria and South Australia are being blasted by a heat wave and there's bushfires in Western Australia.

Next Monday, the Wife and I are off on a touring holiday for about six weeks. Where are we going???? yep, that's right, heading south through New South Wales, Victoria, South Oz and Western Oz.

I guess we'll have to pack our rain coats, umbrellas and gum boots as well as sun tan lotion, fire extinguishers and fire blankets.LOL

hey rick there will be no room for a carton in th zed with all that stuff ha ha when do plan to be in the west, darryl.

Hey there Darryl,

Leaving Yeppoon on Monday morning for Adelaide where we put the Prado on the Indian Pacific bound for Perth, arriving in west Oz on the 22nd.

We couldn't go from Sydney 'cause the convict built tunnel roofs are too low and we'd wind up with a convertible Prado.ROFL

As Lennon would say, I saw the news today, oh boy!

Out of control fires in the west, floods in the east Cyclones in the north.

Sadly, 3 truck drivers lost their lives when a fire storm engulfed the major highway to Kalgoorlie, trapping the 3 trucks in a blaze.
