Catalytic Converter?

Featured Replies

Just wondering - were they standard on '71 Z's as I think I have one (either that or 2 mufflers...) but I found that they were only standard on all cars from the mid-70s...

no cat on a 71...thats a pre muffler I think its called. If I'm wrong someone can correct me...:bunny:

It's a pre-muffler or resonator, whichever you want to call it. I think the first of the Z's that had a catalytic converter was the 79 ZX.

Ummm...'79 for "49 state legal" maybe....here in the Peoples Republic of California I believe they started in '75 with the FI vehicles. If not, then definitely by '76.
