OEM color of grill on hood?

Featured Replies

hi all, What is the OEM color of the grrill on the hood of the 280Z 1977?

I have it painted in black, but many old z Pictures have the same color as the body, I think that same color look nicer than black..

any comments?

thanks.

I thought it was meant to be dark grey - the same colour as the rear tail light panel possibly. I know some members here have restored theirs so they will be able to help more :).

I think he's talking about the vents in the hood of a 280Z, not the actual grille in front of the car.

The ones on mine are the same color as the car. as far as i know, they are original.

The hood grills should be the same color as the car, the rear tail light "escutheon" (sic)is another matter, I believe that Ed knows that color as he did his to stock

Ah, ya, you're probably right.

so u mostly agree on that the vents on the hood should have the same color as the hood right?

and is there a cover under the vent on both sides or only on the left side? coz I have only one on the drivers side!?

My car has black vents. I bought it from the original owner. They were black then and he never had the car painted. I've seen them both ways. The cover on the left side is to keep water off of the manifolds/injectors etc. I don't know why they didn't put one on the other side also to keep water off of the spark plugs/wires.
