Carbon parts (post suggestions)

Now your sharing the molds? What molds? You are asking for freaking ideas! Which ever ones are most wanted will be the "molds".

I used to make patterns and molds for a living. THAT'S HOW I KNOW HOW THIS "SPREAD THE TOOLING COST" PLAY WORKS!

I was asking ideas for CF parts that might've slipped my mind. If I liked the

idea anyone was posting I'd get it molded - and make one or two extras of

it since the person posting the suggestion most likely would want to have it too.

The molds can be used to reproduce the part molded 3-4 times.

Making those extra parts = sharing the mold. I don't HAVE to make extras.

Get - it - into - your - head. I'm not running a business.

Take a deep breath, and find who mentioned money first. I think the passions at play colored the black and white(posts), and made this mess. Too much reading between the lines, and not enough reading the lines. I am guilty myself.

Will

PS The first vettes did have an all fiberglass tub frame, that was replaced by a steel frame-as I understand it to lower the chance of a fire due to the exhaust psystem proximity to the frame.

Damn.. this thread is going to be closed if people keep bitching!!

I would LOVE carbon fiber parts for my Z.

I am very interested

MULL.. ignore all the people bitching and drifting off topic...

there are several people seriously interested in your carbon parts from your sponser.

Back to the topic....

Suggestions for carbon fiber parts for our Z's... what would you like in carbon fiber, and is it practical?!

Your 280z isn't the 2+2 right? That's the 280zx - correct? Haven't been

studying 280z's that much to know for sure... Better to ASK than ASSUME :classic:

The parts I have in mind for my car are these:

• Hood

• Cowl plate

• Front fenders

• Light buckets

• Taillight panel

• Rear flares

• Center console

• Dash

• Doors

• Hatch

edit: Practical? What is practical? Is having a Z in any way practical? As with

pretty much everything - it's in the eye of the beholder. I'm having these parts

made since I "crave" the weight reduction. That, and the fact that I have a

sponsor - who'll get tons of publicity though me and my car. I'm a well known

member on a swedish car forum that sports 19 000 members, nearly 180 000

threads and close to 2 000 000 posts. My project thread has so far had a tad

over 30 000 views since November 18th (2004) - and I haven't done much but

tear the car down, prepping it for cutting away rust and sand blasting.

Considering the amount of views the thread has had - it's interesting from a

sponsors view - especially since I photograph and film the process of restoring

my Z. So there's a bit of background to why I have a sponsor...

I scratch his back - and he'll scratch mine.

I leave it up to you to decide what's practical and what's not. I can't imagine

the center console saving alot of weight when comparing the plastic to CF.

In that case however, it's more the looks I'm after. That, and getting rid of

my broken/drilled up (swiss cheese style) center console... :) :knockedou

No my 280Z is still an S30 chassis....

basically the SAME as a 240Z, just minor minor changes, such as

different tail lights,

center console,

slight change in the dash,

different front valence,

relocated front turn signals from valence into grill,

the 280Z has hood vents unlike the 240Z, and ofcourse the

2.8L fuel injected motor, instead of a 2.4L carb.

Same car, just minor tweaks and mods...

a 280ZX is wayy different, and a completly different chassis and re-vamp.

I have a 280Z no (x)
