I have a 73 240z and just got it running. I need new tires and wondered if anyone had suggestions.

What size rims do you have?

I'm considering the same thing. I'm looking at Panasport 15" all silver wheels with 205/60-15 , 205/65-15, or 215/60-15 tires.

Dunlop Sport A2.

Not too expensive, pretty sticky (don't expect high mileage), and you can get them in somewhat old tire sizes (i.e. -- you won't need a 17" rim running 40 series tires!).

If I remember correctly, they were the stickiest thing I could find in a 195/70R14. Unless you're driving 20k miles a year, the wear shouldn't be a problem, and by the time the tread is worn out, the rubber will probably be old enough you should change it anyway!

For daily driving I like the BFGoodrich Radial TAs but for autocross I have heard that the Falken Azines (sp?).

My rims are 14 inch and the car currently has 185/70/14's. Can I put wider tires on?

I'm running some 205/60/14 yokohamas with no rubbing on stock suspension, 14x5.5 rims I believe.

There were 215x55x14(i think? tires are long gone now) on before but I had a hard time finding that size at local tire stores. No rubbing there either.

I've grown to like the Falken Zeix 512 for daily driving duties. I've got 2 sets now in 195/60/14 and 225/50/15. They seem to break the standard format by having nice grip AND long wear. They're popping up more and more on the track as rain tires which is a good indication that others are having the same feelings. I never thought I'd have any respect for a tire with a UTQG rating OVER 300!

My track set is Kuhmo Victoracer V700 195/55/14, and they have served me very well. So, well that they are now in dire need of replacement! Before those, I ran a set of Goodyear R1's. They were a costly mistake, as they were GONE in 3 weekends! I have been debating on switching to the Falken Azenis Sport RT-215, only because of the price. The are selling locally at $50.00 apiece! But, I don't like the size selection. (195/60/14 too narrow!) and I'm sure they can't be as grippy as the Victoracers.
