Hey guys, I am not sure how to phrase this, but while I was working on my '71 240Z today, I pulled the steering wheel and half of the shaft off the car! All of the pgtail and wiring came unplugged and I was holding the rest in my hands! I was able to see four (screw?) holes at the end of the shaft, but could not find mating holes on the outer sleeve that it slides into. I just bought this car two weeks ago. Could it be the Po was doing some work and forgot to re-tighten the steering nut? Could something be broken, or is this the way it is supposed to be? when the shaft was off the stalk and in my hands, the top (splined part) of the steering shaft was sticking out o…

out. The gouge is very minor and is only prevelent near the edge. A quick, careful grinding eliminated all the burrs. Should I be concerned or is it ok?

I am getting closer to finally updating my sagging springs and worn out shocks. This site has provided enough info that I think the ST springs are what I want. Anyone else want to give me some feedback on how they like ST's? Im going to either use Tockco HP's or illuminas depending on how mcuh money I can come up with, this is for the 71, which I only drive weekends on pretty smooth country roads. What is a good source for these springs?

Does any one know if it is possible to find an original 240Z wood steering wheel, either new, used, or does any one make a replica of the original for sale? Thanks, Joe

Does anyone know how to convert a GTR LSD Skyline short nose diff center to a R200 longnose to make a LSD diff. I have the both diffs complete.

Heres a long shot, but does anyone know who made these Rear Strut Cartridges? They are from a 240z, painted black, and the only markings they have are a part number: 734603 and "Made in USA".

I did a search on this, and nothing came up. I was wondering if anybody has had experience with ArizonaZCar's coilover conversion kit? And if it works well. Thanks, Ian.

I recently rebuilt the front end, replacing typical wearing parts plus coupling and rack bushings to tighten steering. I installed stock wheels and wheel covers after balancing, I then took the car for a front end alignment. The car is fine to about 70 mph, then it gets a slight shimmy and if I go to 85mph it disappears (or seems to). It was bugging me yesterday so I took it to Costco and had all the wheels balanced again - they found one front wheel off a little and a rear off a fair amount. Rebalanced and took it for a road test, and still the same. Any ideas??

Search turned up nada; FSM, Haynes and How to Rebuild turned up nada. I don't have the appropriate sized sockets or wrenches. I am going to buy 2 of this size. I have sockets up to 17 mm and I specifically bought a 27 mm socket so I could turn the engine manually. I have two rachets, a complete set of box wrenches, a breaker bar and a torque wrench. What I don't have are the larger size sockets hence my question. Thanks.

In my recent efforts to sort out the steering and suspension I removed the struts steering gear and rear struts. When I finished I put on new wheels and tires (balanced), the wheel was of centre and the front wheels were off even though the new tierod ends were carefully installed to the exact position of the old. Wheel alignment was required. At the shop the guy at the desk says "do you want a four wheel alignment", so I say "how are you going to do that?" He rattled off some bs about the benifits but could not answer how they were going to do it. Further they had no information on the car at all (fortunately I had my trusty shop manual). I declined and paid the lesser …

So, if I'm not looking to autocross, race, drive hard but do want a smoother, stock, glide-like ride, I need to go with the KYB's and not the Tokico's correct? More specifically, the GR2's since there is really no need for the adjustable type. Thanks, Guess I need to change the website.

I came across a car load of Z-car parts last year and picked them up. Finally, I'm digging through the last several boxes to see what all is there. I was excited to see two virtually new strut assemblies, complete with tags, etc..... but then it struck me that they are not complete. Looks to me as if someone removed the spring support. Please take a look at the pictures. You can see that something was there, but now it's gone. Why would someone do this? Is there any value to these assemblies the way they are, or are they now scrap metal? What do you think? Part numbers stamped on them are 54302-N4300 & 54303-N4300. I'm not sure of the application, but they…
