  2. Finally got the clock back after 10 weeks!!! (instrumentworks) and was able to get the dash back in place. I should have replaced the bulbs in the rest of the cluster but was too tired of waiting and got lazy on that job. The rest of the cluster is a bit dim but I am not taking the dash out again. Experience ... putting the dash back in and connecting that speedo cable was the most difficult job on this car in my opinion. I recommend anyone taking the dash and putting the windshield gasket together to put the dash in first. Installing the windshield with the rope method is extremely easy and can be done after the dash is installed. For reference I was able to find this extended length pliers to tighten the cable on the speedometer else there is no room from the bottom to reach out to it with hand. It is impossible to tighten it all the way. I was able to barely put it on with my hand with just couple of turns to keep steady, then use pliers. With the windshield off it might be more easy to reach to the speedocable from the back/windshield side.
  3. Post up the serial number and any information about mileage. And if it's complete: carbs, manifolds, air pump, etc. Might have value to somebody restoring an early 240Z. Also, on the 4 speed, whether or not it's a "monkey-motion" transmission or the later style. If it has the clutch parts too, that might help you sell it. Good luck.

That's a midlife crisis screaming out loud car. I'd end up wearing shoes without laces. 🤪

Looks like they're selling in the 30's. Found a Reddit review. https://www.reddit.com/r/GR86/comments/1d5ptdn/gr86_an_actual_honest_review_from_an_owner_for/

Someone sent me photos of a Toyota g86 I think. Said they only made 860 of this 10th anniversary model. He wants to trade even. I think not but I'm going done there tomorrow in my car for some comparison pictures and to rub it in a little.😁

Anything to help another gearhead! Rust areas are the most important hidden item on these old cars.

Someone might help you get a better price on the San Jose car if we can see it. This group has eagle eyes!

You're going to San Jose today to see a 240Z. Take a picture and post it so that we can see it. We like to see other people's 240Z's.

I didn't buy it, but I don't think 40K is a good deal, so I didn't add more. If the car is in really good condition, I'll consider adding more. I'm going to San Jose today to see one

Dadgum! That breaks the value down on mine. Might be time to lower Hagerty's coverage or maybe it gets stolen tonight. 😂
  19. If anyone is interested, let me know as I would have to drive a short distance to take pictures.

Sold for around $40k... good for the buyer but the seller was probably disappointed in the price. @jeongjihye did you buy it?

You're going to want a modified Z if you want to have that kind of power. Like this. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-342/ https://www.autoevolution.com/news/bmw-s54-the-m3s-last-and-most-impressive-naturally-aspirated-straight-six-176755.html

I typed some of this into AI to see what it said, and it came back with a lot of stuff, but the main thing was: However, you can search for a compatible replacement. Look for a 4.1945 MHz (or 4.194304 MHz, which is a common close frequency, as 222/106approx4.194304) crystal oscillator with similar package, voltage, and output characteristics. You'll need to know the pinout of your existing oscillator if you want a direct drop-in replacement. You could measure the voltage on a working one to get that, but the other specs would be hard to get without a datasheet.

    My Porsche 911 (996) Trubo engine is a horizontally opposed 6-cylinder, not a V10, 3.6L
  26. Thank you Mike. If anyone from this forum wants one I'm sure I can arrange a sensible discount. Because the cost to ship to the USA is quite expensive if a few people wanted to club together i can send in one go.
