'70 Rust-Free Arizona Z Going Cheap!
I really don,t need another car but I cant stand by and let an early Z die. If no one else wants it let me know and I want bid on it otherwise I think it needs a good home.I just bought a house today with 5 outbuildings and room to keep up to 15 cars indoors.I think I am going to call my new place Z shelter for retired Z cars.

sandblasting concerns??
I have been wrestling with this dilema for a while.I just came up with the idea of using lime.It is real fine and non acetic. It is very cheap.Has any ever tried this? I think I am going to try it on a parts car first so if it don't work I won't hurt anything.Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
[quote name=26th If you say that the engine is not the original engine, (for whatever reason you say that) then the car is not matching numbers. Whew! Chris I looked at the vin# on the dash first. Then I looked at the plate on the drivers door jam the vin# matched.then I looked on the shock tower at the plate there. The vin# was the same as the other two.On the plate with the vin# on the shock tower had engine # stamped just under the vin#. I then looked on the engine block just below the head ( E-88) and closest to the firewall. There were two smooth places on the block. The first place had l24 stamped on it .The second place had a number stamped on it that was not even in the ball park with the engine # stamped on the plate on the shock tower. From that I took it the numbers didn't match.I was under the impression engines with that low vin# came with E31 heads,I could be wrong on that.

It's not that she minds how many Z cars I own it's all the parts in the kitchen, dining room, laundry room, den, bedroom, bathroom not to count the cars in her parking space or the back of her truck is full.I have two warehouses with cars in them but I like to bring parts home to clean them up.- Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
I live 45minutes from him.I do a lot of projects where he is.I noticed the 280 hood right off the bat.I want take a good look and hopefully talk myself out of it.It is real easy to walk away from a deal if you don't need it and it don,t feel right. Thanks for all the inputs and I will keep yall posted as to what the real story is. Ronnie- Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
Hey guys, I know it's good to keep up with the prices of these cars and to some it's a way to find a deal on one but yall are killing me.Being a Z car addict I can't quit cold turkey.I have contacted the seller of this Z to get a good look at it and maybe try to buy it.With ten Z cars and three trucks I am either going to go broke or my wife is going to divorce me and I will be broker. If anyone has a cure for this addiction please let me know.:stupid:- Where to start?
Thanks guy's I will order the book and any other book that is needed.I have the patience to do this because I already have a great daily driver. I took it to my uncles metal shop today and set up a work area. He is going to make me a rotisserie to put it on.Right now the big question is to sandblast, media blast, dip orpaint remover? I read all the threads on this subject but couldn't decide which. they were written a while ago and I didn't know if there has been any improvements since then.If anyone knows I would like to know the pros and cons. Thanks again for yalls input I don't take it for granted.- Where to start?
Okay guys I really need some expert help on my big project.I started out by buying a finished 70 model Z. That turned out to be not as much fun because it didn't need anything so I made up stuff to do to it.Then I bought another 70 model that needed a lot of work.Great,Now I needed parts for it so I bought another Z. It was better than the parts car so I was going to fix up both of them. Now I need another parts car. After several more cars I purchased 000913. I now have more cars than I can use but that don't mean I don't like all of them.My problem now is I wan't to completely restore 913.I have read as many threads and post as I could find and I find so many different ways to restore a z but no two are the same.I realize it depends on the shape of the car and how much time and money you are willing to spend on it.I am retired and time is of no issue.Basically money is not a major factor but I don't want to spend needlessly.Between the extra cars and all the extra parts that came with it I think it will cut down on cost considerably. What I need is some direction to go in to get started.I know there are a lot of you guys that have gone this route before and have great knowledge to share.I am not looking for anybody to hold my hand but to set me in the right direction by recomending books, cds, pictures,or any other information on the subject.I will post pics on the project as it moves along so if anyone sees something needing changing please let me know. Thanks Ronnie- Where can I find a tach
Eric I have a 72 with a spare tach. For the cost of shipping it's yours- Another "All Original" Z car on ebay
Good morning James As some members know I have bought 10 Z cars since Jan this year.I have 3 70, 1 71,1 72, 3 73,1 77, and 1 eighty something. They range in price from free to 12000.00.I am by no means as qualified to give expert advice as a lot of members in this club.I am going by my limited experience. What I have found is some cars look good in the picture and description but after inspection it is a mirror and light show. Also I have some that look like crap in the picture and turn out to be great. The funny part is the asking price has basically nothing to do with the real condition of the car. It all is up to the seller what he thinks it is worth.I think others will agree with me the best way to buy a car is go look at it for yourself and see first hand what shape it is in.The second best way is to find someone close to the car and have them check it out for you. There are plenty of members that would be glad to do this for you.The worst thing you can do is see a picture of one at a good price and decide up front you have to have that car at any price.Check around and make an informed purchase and you should be alright.Just remember you should be prepared to walk away if it doesn't feel right.Good luck and keep us informed. By the way I live about 45 minutes SE of Atlanta.- 000913 Last road trip for a while
I made it back this morning after 1050 miles 16 hrs drive with no time to rest. Picked up vin# 913. Build date Jan 70. I went out on a limb because I couldn't get an answer as to whether or not the engine was original or not.As it says in my post better lucky than good they matched. My wife was concerned about the shape of the car not having much info and I said if it is all there I don't care what shape.Turns out to be in a lot better shape than I could have hoped for.Not only is most of it is there but there is a ton of extra parts. What is not there I have already. The only thing missing is all the knowledge to put it back original.I am not worried about that because of all the great guys in this club with all yall's experience. I will appreciate any and all advice or help I can get. I have been asleep all day and not had the chance to take pictures but I will do that tomorrow. Thanks again for all the support and I will start an album on the progress.- Another "All Original" Z car on ebay

Driving home today in RED71Z my temp almost pegged the gauge before I noticed.I shut it down and coasted into an old store with gas pumps looking for water. As I coasted up to the pumps steam came out from under the hood. The problem was just a small hole in the heater hose.No problem I only had about two miles to get home. As I stood by waiting for it to cool down a young fellow about 19 drove up in a riced up honda civic and got out.He walked around my car real slow without saying a word just studying it. After a long silence he looked at me and said "great looking car" That made me feel good. Then he asked " What kind is it". I told him a 240Z. He looked puzzled " who makes it". Datsun I said. He looked more puzzled than ever and just said"oh" and walked off. I filled it up with water and drove home.I always feel young when I drive my Z like I did back in 73 when I bought my first one. But the short trip home after that made me feel real old:( But now the way I feel is greatful to have had the chance to have been able to drive a Z when it was new and to drive a Z 33 years later and still feel young:)- #913 On Ebay
- Where/how do you store your Z parts?
It would be easier to mark not in the garage because I dont have a garage. All the other boxes apply.- Bumper Prob
It depends on where you live. In Atlanta there is a place that don't care what shape it is in. It cost 225.00 to straighten, dip, and rechrome.- More important than my Z's
Thanks guy's. It is a hard thing to go thru not knowing what to expect every morning when you wake up and first thing check on Sam to make sure he is still with us.The good part is he is not in any pain and he can't believe all the treats and privilages he gets.Yall's comments do make a big difference. My wife now knows why I stay on the computer so long. Thanks again Ronnie - Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
