  1. A little quiz for you Zed trivia lovers. These are a couple of shots I just found recently while going thru a stack of old pictures. Can anyone guess what they are from. Hint, I took these pictures 38 years ago in Vancouver, BC. Cheers, Mike
  2. If you don't find templates let me know and I could make tracings of mine and snail mail them to you. The ones I have are OE from my 7/70 and are in surprisingly good shape. The only one that is not OE is for the right side front floor, so the one I have is traced from what was let of the original about 35+ years ago.
  3. The RH & LH rear interior side panels changed starting January 1971, part way through the '71 model year. Same time as the evap. tank changed from plastic to steel and the air flow vents were deleted from the hatch and moved to the quarter panels.
  4. As my glove box door is currently taken apart here is a reference picture showing the emblem with the pins and retaining clips intact, as it was originally assembled.

  8. It would be worth checking, on mine there is what I think might be a date code on the inside. My spare is from a 7/70 and is definitely is not in the standardized DOT format with 10 digits that started in 1971.
  9. Would be interesting to see if yours has the 10 digit DOT number like the BaT 8/71 example above.
  10. I would think that since your tire is marked 175SR14 it must be early 70's latest. By 1979 it would have the aspect ratio in the description, like 175/80/14. Does your tire have any markings on either side that appear to have been molded with removable mold pattern tags like the KLILX mark on mine?
  11. Here are a couple of spare tire pics from a BaT auction of an 8/71 that did not meet reserve in 2022. The spare is a 175HR14 RD-150 Bridgestone date coded 30th week 1971. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-205/
  12. The DOT standardized "Tire Identification Number" system did not come into affect until January 26th 1971. Prior to that tire manufacturers used there own systems for date codes. After reading this topic I pulled the original spare from my 7/70 to see what I could learn. Mine is a 175SR14 Bridgestone Superspeed Radial-20. It still has 7/32" of tread left. There are markings that read "K7001" to the left of "DOT" and R20N to the right. I also discovered on more thing I had not noticed before. On the reverse side of the tire there is one more marking in addition to the ones on the outer side. It reads "KLILX" and was created by a mold that could be changed for each run of tires. You can see impressions of the screw heads that would hold the tag in addition to the date code numbers. All of the other markings are part of the permanent tire mold. I now believe that this is the date code. I have no idea how to decipher it. I was thinking roman numerals but that read 51st week 1960. @kats any thoughts? The last picture is of a modern Bridgestone tire that was last on my car before I started my resto. It uses the modern DOT system which since 2000 uses a 4 digit date code (0403 = 4th week 2003), but you can see that this portion of the DOT number is changeable.   14. Looks like this AM-FM one shown in the 1976 Euro parts book, found in the downloads section. It has the early switch for the auto antenna that only came on the early AM only radios (Hitachi) here in North America.

  17. I wouldn't worry about warpage in the lower slot as it doesn't seal. On mine I am lucky that the sealed slot sealing face has virtually no warpage while the lower slot does.
  18. edit: I believe the slot you are pointing to is for cabin air to escape though the hatch. The slot above is sealed to the hatch to drain water. The flaps on the hatch interior panel stops exhaust fumes from entering the cabin while letting air exit. I hope I got that right. On my 7/70 there was no jute in this area. The vinyl was glued directly to the painted steel.

    Just for comparison, the ones on my 7/70 measure 17.8mm OD x 6.7mm ID for both the round and D washers. The D measurement is 15.3mm.

    On my car there are some clipped and some not. Just for reference here is how the part number 08915-43610 decodes, the digits defining the washer type are "915-4" which equals "Washer , Plain Standard".

    Sorry I did point to the wrong ones, but the fender to hood ledge uses the same regular flat washer.

    AKA "clipped washers". I don't see them called for in the parts book for fender installation, my guess is that if you find them, they were likely just cut to suit when required.

  24. Here are a few pics as I was taking my 7/70 apart for reference. The packing material is a dense foam, like used in other places, and was very dried out, basically crumbled during dis-assembly. Pulled these out of storage today and cleaned one them up, I lucked out and they seem to be in quite good shape for being 53 years old. Here are a few more pics of the clean one that you can use to compare to yours. You will note that when both parts are glued together a slot is formed to retain the clip that holds everything together. When I removed the chromed plastic grills from the top side 3 of the four pins broke off. I did find remnants of a barrel clip as well, but it might have been from a emblem.
  25. I believe that these are not meant to be loose parts and were actually glued with an adhesive to the "plenum ducts" then installed as a unit. The materials seem very similar and are meant to be replaced as a unit if required. With these being obsolete your solution is a very good one. FYI, part No. 65 in the online parts diagram, labeled as 'Rubber - Base Bumper'. is actually for the rear bumper end bolts. I believe item 64 is mislabeled. And it appears the the packing/gasketing material is missing from the North American parts book that is also used for the Futofab online version.
