280z springs on a 240z
280z springs are stiffer than a 240'z, I used the rear insulators from a 240z on my 280z and cut 1.5 coils at the top of the stock springs. Rides lower and more aggressive now.

Rota RB-R on 1970 240z
I do not have any personal pics, here is a thread that should give you an idea of what they would look like: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40526 I have run 245/60/14's in the past and these were BF Goodrich tires which were a whopping 250mm wide! They are also taller than a 225/50/16 and I had very minimal rubbing only on very harsh bumps.

Greetings from a newbie
Fuel pump, they are a weak link in the 280z. Make sure it is getting power. If it is, give it a a few slight bangs with a hammer to get it going.

Rota RB-R on 1970 240z
IMHO 16" wheels look better than 17's on a S30. Just go to 18racing.com and order some Rota RB-Rs in size 16x8 +4 offset and run some 225/50/16 tires all around and you can't go wrong.

Junkyard & "Out to Pasture" Zs
All these pictures brings tears to my eyes, to think of all those nice hatch doors being crushed when one can be used on my running Z really saddens me. I am in a bind since I can not find any Z's in the scrap yards up here in Toronto Canada. :hurt:

Rota RB-R on 1970 240z
Just some advice, I would stick to 16's and/or 17's all around. Avoid the different size at the back thing that some people attempt. Most wheels do not look right symmetrically when you attempt this on your car. You have a number of options, they have been discussed before if you do a little bit of searching on the site. Arne is right, you do need to worry a little more if your car has been lowered. Here are some configurations that should work: 16x7 +10 or +4 (205/55/16) front 16x8 +10 or +4 (225/50/16) back or if you want to be more 'aggressive' 16x7 +4 (225/50/16) front 16x8 +4 (245/45/16) back 17x7.5 +4 (225/45/17) front 17x8.5 +4 (245/40/17) rear Use this tool to help you, it is amazing: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Why do these cars sell for so little $ ?
I have a more difficult time than others with this perception because I am not from the west coast. From what I have read, the s30 in particular can be fairly rare in other parts of the US and up in Canada (rust issues killed several up here ). Like all things, I believe this will one day change as time will diminish their numbers there as well. This should only increase their value and desire to own even further. I really feel that that the s30 has made strides in the "Automotive World" in the past few years. I remember reading (can't remember where) how it is regarded as one of the top 10 cars of all time. In one foreign publication, they had it up there with some super cars in regard to it's impact on automotive history.

Car Warriors
Good story, the thing that I have difficulty understanding is this. Just about anyone who sees my car thinks it is gorgeous and I often get people salivating when they see it. Many even mistake it for a domestic muscle car as mentioned by others as well on this site. It all leads to the fact that it is "not domestic" which is creating the idiotic hate from some of these so called "car people". I also find that some people get so fixated with a particular make that they lose focus. Although I love my Z, I also like the look of Mustangs, Corvettes and several exotics and will comment in a positive way when a vehicle deserves it. In conclusion, I have found Z owners to be the most friendly and open minded of any other car owner(s).

Car Warriors
Okay, since no one else is going to say it than I will. Nothing will change my mind about this either since I have observed this too many times over the years. There is a general disliking and/or jealousy (dare I say "prejudice") against Japanese and/or most foreign cars in North America. Owners of domestic "muscle cars" tend to express this feeling more than others. They tend to think they have a hierarchy in the automotive world that no one else can penetrate. This is what drew me to the Z in the first place and its beautiful lines, of course.

Best online shop to order parts from?
I'm from the Toronto area. When I am ready to order, I will be going with MSA, they seem to have just about everything I need and shipping does not seem to be an issue with them. Thanks everyone.

Best online shop to order parts from?
Thanks colinc great to hear from a fellow Canadian, I asked Rick some prices and he seemed very expensive to me. MSA seems like the best bet. Although I have been comparing pricing with BDA. Some things are almost double compared to Black Dragon Automotive. For example, an exterior door handle is only $20 at black dragon while at MSA it is $45. If they are the same company making these and of the same quality than that is a large price difference.

Best online shop to order parts from?
Hello, I am a Canadian Z owner and was wondering from any ones past experience(s) which online dealer would be the best for me to order parts from? I am currently debating between Motorsport Auto and Black Dragon. I would love to hear the pros and cons for ordering from both and/or any other online stores that you may suggest. Thanks

Tire size...PLEASE HELP!
For safety reasons (if you want to use a slip on spacer) than I wouldn't go bigger than 5mm. If you use an adapter, then you can use from 15mm up to 50mm. What size tires did you end up putting on your car?

What do you think of this---
The price is not bad. What is more important than the advice anyone on this board can give you is the following: "Do you really like them?" These are going on your car and no matter how good of deal you get, if you do not actually like the wheel then you are wasting your money and should keep searching.

Tire size...PLEASE HELP!
If I had this wheel size set up and did not want to use spacers in the front I would try the following (assuming they still sell all these tire sizes, I have not checked in awhile): This is close to stock height: 195/55/16 for the front: which equates to 24.4 inches (diameter) 225/50/16 for the rear: which equates to 24.9 inches (diameter) If I wanted to use spacers and go wider, I would use 15mm adapters in the front and do the following set up: 225/50/16 for the front 245/45/16 for the rear Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

Mistaken Identity
I've also gotten Corvette, Porsche, Cobra and believe it or not a Dodge Viper. I have come to the conclusion over the years that unless you are a true car enthusiast, cars from the 60's and 70's (to the general public anyway) have a similar aroma. Therefore, causing people to identify your car with mental images they most associate with their own past. Just a thought.

Mistaken Identity
My Z is red with 5 spoke ATS Classics, it is often mistaken for an old Ferrari. Which I guess is a good thing :classic:.

Latest wheel selections and personal reviews, which one is your favourite?
Thank you steve91tt, I thought American Racing stopped making the Ansen. I do not see the 15x8 available any longer, to bad if that is the case . By the way, your Z is very sharp looking.

Latest wheel selections and personal reviews, which one is your favourite?
Hello IdahoKidd, I have added the set of slotted mags that are still available for the S30. The Retro 4 is based on the original Libre Wheels. For what it is worth I have been reading that the Shakotan looks incredible in real life and that the online pictures do not do them justice. I gave this wheel such a high rating because it is so unique looking and the fact this style was used on a Mangusta (they were often painted full silver, I included a picture below) gives them a certain charm, the available 15x9 alone is rare for our car. The Panasport and Classic 8 do look good on a Z but you must admit that they are a mundane style on this car. Over the past 25 years I have met very few people outside of Z owners who like this eight spoke style wheel. This has most likely set a more negative image of the wheel in my mind, who knows.

It looks like they used the 15x8, do you know if they are using spacers on that car?

Hi surfer.tech, I have posted and reviewed the Enkei 92's in my initial post. If everyone is enjoying my thread I can keep it going just say the word. Thanks

That's weird, you must have posted this when I was adding these wheels to my list .

I was going to add pricing, what I opted for instead was to make statements such as 'affordable' or 'low cost'. Cost varies from various dealers and sometimes they will not give you a price on their site (you need to email them for a quote). Maybe I will go back to my original post and add a price range.
