  1. I have the system on my car. Fujitsubo from the headers back. The headers are of questionable origin since they were on the car when I bought it. I replaced the old system because the resonator completely blew out thanks to rust and a serious scrape. I paid 66,400 for the system + 3320 tax for a total of 69,720. That was about $600 last May. Mike: I think it's all stainless. My flanges look like stainless. And you're right, it took 45 days for them to get my system after I ordered it. Brian: Where did the hole come from? Certainly not rust. Anybody want a catalog to drool over, send me a PM and next time I go out there to the car shop, I'll get some.
  2. Okay, then where else did these cars go? I posted a pic of a 240K that I found in the Skyline Museum a few months back. It had fender mirrors, which all the guys downunder said "never seen them" or "looks strange." Now you find parts marked specific for Australia, so where else did these cars go? Certainly not to the US; and here in Japan, they were Nissan Skylines, not Datsun 240Ks. England?
  3. The "S" stands for "Showa" the period of the Japanese Emperor at the time. So, S47 means the 47th year of the Showa Emperor's reign. It corresponds to 1972, as mine is a "Showa 46" or 1971. But you must understand calendar years and model years don't always match. In the US, traditionally, "new" model years come out in September; thus, the '06s have been out for sale already for three months. I don't know about the Japanese - in 2002, Toyota came out with a new model of the same car every month. Totally feasible that the Kenmeri was available in late 72. But we're getting way off the original topic of electric windows on Kenmeri Skylines . . . .
  4. It's at least worth the rebuild on the head. After that, who knows. I don't think there's much demand for an L20 except for someone who's restoring a Fairlady Z, but then you get into the "matching numbers" debate with some of the purists. I say put it up for sale - best offer and see what you get. BTW, when you rebuilt the head, did you use L24 parts - gaskets, seals, etc? I'm asking for future reference when I need to work on my car.
  5. Ya know, the Japanese don't like to make too much "special" parts. That's why there's blank-outs in certain common parts. GTXs came with power windows, the rest did not. I bet if you pulled a GTX door panel off and looked in back, you'd find a cut-out where the manual window crank would be that's not punched out. My 2000GT has the same blank-out panel on the console where the GTX's power window switches would go. They weren't even an option for my car. The only difference in the door between a power window car and a crank window car would be the electric motor and regulator. Motors between C110s and C210s may interchange, but the regulator would certainly be different. My car has a switch next to the hazzard switch that operates the parking lights. Could that be it? Jim, don't you have the same switch in your KGC10?
  6. Lachlan, Good thing about Japanese cars - all the hookups are there, even if not used. The firewall will have the holes for the unused parts, but they'll be covered and need to be punched-out. Sounds like you have a really knowledgable supporter to help you along. This link will take you to a drawing of all the Z transmission types A, B, and T-5. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/69-83TrannyShifterDrawing.jpg I also recommend changing out the rear end to match the tranny. When I switched from 4 speed to 5 speed, I lost some low end due to the mis-match but gained high end. Also, match your clutch to your driving. Racing clutches are no good for the street. I went with a bigger disk, but softer springs to make it easy on the leg for my mainly city driving. Good luck! Gee, I haven't pulled a tranny in ages . . . .
  7. Welcome! If you're going to go resto, then by all means keep the L20. But if you really want to have fun, I suggest you go L28 punched out to 3.1 The people here are really great and helpful. Take some time to look through the threads. Lots of good information.
  8. Looks like you could get more tire on those rims, Mikey. The stretch/bulge looks a bit scary to me.
  9. I wish I lived in Florida . . . three transmissions for the price of one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-280Z-Transmissions-2-5speeds-1-4speed_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33733QQitemZ8015607851QQrdZ1

I uploaded my pics from the Prince and Skyline Museum. Not very good quality, but it was dark and my digital camera must have an anemic flash. Sorry, but there's no picture of the C110 GT-R because that car was sent to the Tokyo Motor Show. I was rather disappointed, since the web site shows so many great cars, and when I went there, there wasn't too many. Apparently, they rotate the cars that the museum owns and take other cars on loan to display for up to a year from the owners. I wonder if they pay the owners or give them gifts? Speaking of gifts, I spent almost Y10,000 (~$90 USD) in the gift shop for gifts - for me! And got a free "Staff" t-shirt.

I was going through my camera and found some pictures I took at the Prince and Skyline Museum in Nagano, Japan. I'll be posting them later in the gallery, but here's a 240K GT for my mates downunder.
