You collect what?
I am not a collector but do love my cars. I of course have my restored, original owner 1972 Z and am in the process of restoring a 1972 FJ40. I know that we have many members on this site which qualify as collectors with multiple examples of Z cars. Well I stopped by a friends the other day and took a look at his collection and........ He has a great collection of tanks from all over the world including one captured in the 6 day war and one from the battle of the bulge. His latest edition is a 63 ton giant waiting for shipment in Liverpool, England. All of his tanks are in great fully working condition.

Met a great Z couple today!
Great to see you on the site, hope the tuning manual will help you to dominate in your future autocross events. I believe it was closer to 3 hours but when talking cars (bench racing) it is easy to loose track of time. The Z is back in storage for the winter and the FJ40 project is well on it's way. I am currently sourcing and fitting the power steering upgrade parts. Have fun! JLP

Started on the restoration of my FJ40 yesterday.
I just got back in from the garage, in one full day I have: removed all of the front end up to the firewall, removed all of the interior, removed the back swing doors and swinging spare tire carrier, I have ran a tap in all of the threads to clean them out, removed the white portion of the top and drilled out all of the screws fastening down the aftermarket roof rack and rails. I will post some photos soon. I was originally looking for a Datsun Patrol and had the same issue with not being able to find a clean survivor to start with. While looking for a Patrol I found this FJ and it is completely rust free and all original. It came from Sonora county, CA and was a one owner vehicle until it was bought from the family for resale on ebay.

Started the tear down of my 72 Land Cruiser yesterday, it is a pleasure to take a vehicle apart that is not rusted together at the nuts and bolts. So far sourcing parts looks to be much easier than it is for the Z. We will see as I get deeper into the project.

Met a great Z couple today!
Sarah and Doug stopped in this morning prior to leaving for home. They stopped by the fire station, I am on duty today. I took the following Pictures. Captain, I had your pics of their Z on my computer when they got here, they asked if I was stalking them? I just explained that I was demonstrating the depth of this site.

Met a great Z couple today!
They brose here and are members of ZCar.com. They do not seem to spend a lot of time on line and like you I can understand why. It was interesting that they knew of my car from this site and had read my story about my 72. They had a lot of questions, I made sure they knew that this site had answers to most if not all of their questions. They will be registering when they get back to Wyoming. They are going to stop in at the firehouse today, (I am on duty), before leaving for home. I will get some photos then. This is definitely the car in you pics. I gave her (Sarah) my well used original "How to Modify your Datsun" book which should help her tune her car for future events. Good people!

Met a great Z couple today!
Chased down a Z today, blue 73 with Wyoming plates, nice looking Z. I caught up with them at our local Cracker Barrel talked for a while (Doug and Sarah). They stopped by this evening to see my Z and do some Z talking.:classic: They currently have a 73 (hers) and 77 (his). It was fun to meet them and as all Z folks they were ready to visit and talk about their love for Z cars. Sarah autocross’s the 73. They both work at Yellow Stone National Park and gave us an invite to visit. If you know me you know how much I love hiking and camping out west, you know that I will take them up on the visit. It’s a great Z day. I will post some pictures of their 73 tomorrow.

Clock repair/restore
Ron, at ZClocks rebuilt mine with the quartz movement. Smooth action, runs just as the original did for the short time it did. I have not dealt with the other vendors but I highly recommend Ron!

Dash wiring harness electrical fire
I just pulled this dash harness out of storage. Let me know what you think. Maybe Carl can help us on this; what is a fair price for this if needed? I also have the complete harness and gauges if any other parts are needed for the repair.

Bad decision? I own it now!
Made a hard decision today, don't know if it was the right decision but I own it now.:paranoid: While sourcing parts for my car I sent out the original AM/FM radio for clean and repair to B/C electronics in Pennsylvania. It ended up only needing a tune and clean and for just under $200.00 I was confident that I would have a good working original radio in my 72, and it is. Recently while going through all of my extra parts collected throughout the years I came across two original radios with excellent face plates, knobs etc... One is an early AM auto search model from one of the first 700 cars and the other is an AM/FM from a 72. I removed the antenna switches, face plates and knobs and sent them in to be checked out by B/C. Shortly after, I received a call and the short of it is the estimate for the total repair for both radios was around $800.00. I asked that they give me a chance to think about it. After a couple of weeks I made the call today and gave them the go ahead. I decided that I would hate to see these original radios scrapped. Saving Zed's one bolt at a time. JLP

Loaner Dashboard shipping box
TomoHawk , Just received the following reply from champion. "Hi Jerry, I do still have the crate, the only thing Is that I have not yet installed the dash in my 240z so it's still in the crate. Does he need it right away? i'm assuming it would be a good 100-150$ to ship the empty crate depending on where he is."

Loaner Dashboard shipping box
I sent out a request to the last person I sent a dash to and am waiting to hear back. He lives in Canada, I don't know what it would cost to ship it to you for him. His contact information is on ebay and his ebay ID is 514_champion The other dash was a couple years back and went to AZ I believe. jlp

Sorting through my old racing parts and found???
I called Todd at Wolf Creek Racing last week looking for some Mikuni parts for a friend. The parts were the accelerator pump body. Todd proceeded to tell me that they were long gone and if you have a set with stuck valves you were out of luck for the most part:disappoin. Then today while sorting through my old parts box’s I ran across two new;) in the package Nissan part #17620-25520 “BODYâ€. Datsun (NISSAN) sold the parts through their competition department.

Complete 72 240Z Roof excellent condition!
I just listed a complete roof from a 1972 240Z. It is in excellent condition. I save it for the Z with the aftermarket sunroof and an owner looking for a winter project of bringing the roof back to its original condition. It is listed in the classifieds. It could be sent freight:ermm: but I am hoping for local pick up.
