Removing old tar/mud everything
I also used a small propane torch and a scraper. I used steel wool in mineral spirits after I got a chunk off to clear the rest off to metal. It was a long process...and messy. But it worked.

Seriously, you guys have crocs, spiders, snakes, sharks, killer jellyfish the size of a quarter... Not being the top of the food chain HAS to make you a tough S.O.B.

Another introduction and a question
My 72 had a hit to the front corner, rad support was damaged and repaired. This happened probably 15 years before I owned it. When I took it in for body work recently, we found the damage needed more repairs and the whole front needed a bit more 'straightening'. I think another user here said, Z's are like the bus...if you miss this one, another will be along shortly. It cost me alot more in the long run to repair a previously damaged frame than it would be to get a straight one in the first place.

Building Online Parts Store! Like Opinions Please.
Hey, I just looked the site...man thats busy. I understand you like the flashy graphics and the DragonBallZ guy at the top, but in my mostly uneducated opinion on the topic...it doesnt seem like the site is geared towards commerce so much. If the point of it is to sell product maybe a more business like template would be in order. Very creative though.

paint color help
http://www.zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html Try here for the original color codes and colors. I just went thru this process, and I decided on the original 110red, its the orangey-red. Good luck, I know its a tough choice, but they're all good!

Nice 78 goes to 13K - three days left
I enjoy the 'constructive criticism'. I miss most of the little details that others point out. I actually learn alot from going back and re-looking at the ad armed with those little details.

Officially a 240z owner!
Is picture 003 the rocker panels? It shows rusted off metal, but I'm not sure what angle you took the pic from?

Nice 78 goes to 13K - three days left
It's over 13k with 3 days 8hrs to go. Thats great. I hope this one fetches top dollar. I also hope the new owner has gone and gave it a full inspection so they know what they're in for. It looks great in the pictures though, except for that huge front bumper of course

Door reassembly question.
Does anyone know if its practical to reassemble a door when its already painted and mounted? Im talking everything, glass, hardware, locks. It was a pain in the arse getting it all out with the door on the ground, so I assume its more difficult when its on. Thanks,

ggarrard. I'm a member of the OZCC but I've never been to a meeting. Thought I'd wait till I can actually drive there in a Z. Bonzi: That looks great. Nice color. I'm gonna stick with the red. I'll appreciate it more knowing its got an original color. Its going to be painted inside too, so the only evidence of 918 orange will be under the headliner. I left that in because no way it was coming out in one piece.

Progress on my 240z
As far as blues go, DatsunZsrule and user Kats have the nicest blues I've seen. The original blues (903 and 115) are ok, but not as nice as either of theirs. A blue with more silver in it sounds interesting, post some pics if you have any. Whatever you pick it'll look good on a Z.

240z Stock Downpipe?
Blackdragon does not sell that piece in their catalog, and I checked MSA's website and they have it only in their premium exhaust package, but it's there. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEC27/15-6302 Thats all I can find online so far..

I should retract that 'completely stock' statement. I have Konig wheels on it already...so obviously its not going to be all stock. I'd even be happy driving it in primer if I could actually drive it. Most colors look great on a Z, who am I kidding.

Im going to have to live with the bondo. There will be a lot less bondo than was originally on there, and I know there is NO rust under it because I did it by hand myself. You're supposed to break 0C this weekend. Maybe it'll last a few days for you!

Finally! After owning the Z for 2 years...
Thats great news. Keep us posted on your progress.

Progress on my 240z
Bill: Thats good news. I'd love to see some pics when you get her back. Jared: I had a conversation yesterday with a friend, I was telling him about your blue and Kat's blue and how I really liked it. He said if you like it paint it blue!. I put alot of thought into it, and since I'm putting all this work into it to make it completely stock, it would bug me if I didnt choose an original color. Mine was orange originally, but I saw a 110 red at a shop here and thought I liked it best out of all the original colors. I cant believe what a tough choice it was to settle on a color. Next time I'm up in Northern Ontario I might go thru the US to get there...maybe you can give me a ride in your blue Z.

Oil Change Scams
I saw those reports on TV a while back. Makes me wonder how many times I've been taken for a ride with stuff like that. I stopped going to the Mr. Lube here when a guy convinced my wife her car 'will crash' if she didnt change her fuel filter right now. I told her when she got home I changed it 6 months ago...she was all upset and they charged (around) $45.00 to change it. I actually drove back to find out what evidence this guy had a 6 month old filter would make a car crash and how he gets off scaring a poor girl into getting the filter changed. He wasnt there anymore conveniently and no one would really give me an answer. After that I change my own oil on all our vehicles.

Dashboard Restoration - Material?
The only input I can offer is I assume its going to cost alot to do this, and for that price I would want to make sure it looked original. I might walk away if all I could get was an alternative covering. Maybe can you buy a crack free dash used for the same money?

You guys North of me won't be happy...
