  1. Thanks for all the info guys! the reason I was asking this quetion is that we want to run a car in the historic class in Aus and would make a lot of sence to run triples to keep up with the porsches etc Could you tell me were I could get a copy of that sports option cataloge so I can show it to the powers that be and see if I can get triples homologated in our historic class. Thanks again Ash
  2. I was just wondering if it was ever a factory option for the 240Z with the L24 engine to have triples (webber, mikuni? etc) If so are there any documents to say so? Thanks
  3. Just wondering how the rb30 conversion kit is going. Could you let me know the price, what you get in your kit and availability. thanks Ash
  4. Thanks for the help. I put a second hand Voltage regulator on the car last night of a 260z and it work great now! Ash
  5. My 71' 240Z road car has all of a sudden got an elec problem. The amp meter goes to the end of the guage when you give the car a rev. I have tryed another 2 altinators and it still the same. also the headlight get brighter when the car revs. I checked the battery and it is fine. I also checked the voltage at the altinator and it show about 12V at 800rpm and about 15V when reved. The only thing I can think is the voltage regulator could be dead but the voltage at the battery is good (doesn't follow the altinator) Please help? Ash
  6. HI Just thought I would add the new z seems to be pretty tough as it did 22 hrs in the bathurst 24hr before the driver hit some marbels of line and spun it into the wall:stupid: . Other than a set of slicks, roll cage and upgraded springs the car was totaly standard and it keeped up with alot of the cars. It was running 10th at one stage. All in all I think it will live up to the z car name! check it out at www.procar.com.au in the bathurst section. Ash

  14. Im not sure on the rules for your class but there is a guy running a 240 in our class that has a fairly std car that weighs about 1000kg and has about 220hp it usually knocks of the 911's with similar modification. This hp figure is with some head porting, big cam fitted and not much else on the motor. The brakes are only slightly upgraded aswell Ash

hi alan thanks for emailing me the ratios. The guy will get the gears cut for that price. he makes 5th 1st then the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th become the H pattern with the 1 to 1 5th if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the info guys. Alan I would love to know what the ratios were in the option boxes. If you could email them to me at www.zr240@hotmail.com I would greatly appreciate it. There is a guy here who can make me a custom close ratio box (what ever ratios I want) for around $2500 aussie dollars which sound ok just need to start saving. I am allowed to fit a skyline or silvia box for the class I run but havent been able to find any close ratio boxes in Australia and it costs too much to import. The main reason I chose a z for racing is they are without dought the best value for money sportscar to race around. Thanks again Ashley
  20. They look awsome. were did you get the pic's

I am trying to get a close ratio gearbox for my race car. I am in Australia so if anyone in Aus has one or knows were to get one please contact me. Also If anyone out there in Z land can give me info on the close ratio boxes please do THanks Ash
  22. This is a fairly large question and it depends on alot of things. I wil try and aswer as best I can. on my car I run about 2mm toe in because the z tends to dip a bit at the front under very very heavy braking if you have large sticky tyres and big brakes. The reson for toe in is that if you are driving through a high speed coner and you ease a bit of brake on, the toe evens out and if you dont run toe in it goes to toe out and the car gets unstable. (trust me Ive done it heaps of times) with caster I run standard caster as per the manual (workshop manual) Camber depends on your tyre eg. bias ply etc you shoould ask the tyre manufacturer for there recomendation as I find most of the seem to of heard of zeds and canm offer some good advice. Also ask him what the tyre pressure should be for your type of tyre. Make sure you know the approx weight of your car aswell as that has alot to do with how much pressure etc to run. ride hight. dont lower the car to much as it can stuff up the handleing big time. I have lowered my car so the front and rear lower control arms are vertually parralel to the ground (It seems to work very well) Please note this is just a guide i am by no means an expert on this subject but I have put all of the above mentioned into practice
  23. I just heard that the 350Z will be racing in the bathurst 24hr race here in Australia in November. I cant wait to see how it will go over 24hrs!
