  1. I had a AE92 corolla but it had alot of small problems that were gonna cost big money. Toyota also overpriced new parts I couldn't believe they wanted $120 for just a rubber piece that goes on the intake after the airfilter. It wasn't a bad car you could really rev it if you liked but I could never really do it in mine because some timing cover seal was leaking and everytime I'd rev over 4000rpm or less it would squeal like a pig. It was good on fuel and it had a nice interior etc.. but not sure if I'd get another I guess I'd have to find one with lower K's mine had done 290,000 and low k's examples are very highly priced $$$ over priced in my opinion but the main reason for it's departure was the fact that I was using it as a daily driver so i could save $$$ and restore a 73' 240z but It ended up having problems and it was broken into just like Zpeed's car was stolen but mine was vandalised and over $2000 worth of damage so I ended up selling it off and buying the current 240z I have now.
  2. Yeah truth be told I want the rear one but I don't know if i have the heart to drill holes in my hatch I get touchy about those things you know that. But yeah I'll speak to you on MSN we might be able to work something out. :classic:
  3. Ever wonder how these get broken? who is the idiot who takes them off and walks on them? Took me ages to locate a nice set of these. But if you can tell me where I'd get a shiny chrome strut brace I'd think of parting mine out :classic: .
  4. I'm interested in the front spoiler depends on if it's on hold and if that guy wants it. You know I want a Gnose but might be fun to have a front spoiler for time being. I wanna see Will's Z with his front bar installed to see what it looks like up close pictures are hard to judge. That flow meter for the carbs is on my to get list so if you decide to sell let me know.
  5. Well I think you should buy a $^!# heap and drive that till you finish Uni. You'll have money in your pocket and you might be able to save for that future Z :classic: . I don't think it really matters if it's a Silvia VL or a R32 GTST you'll want a Z again and you know it :classic: . Sure we all want the fast cars for the wank factor I went through a stage of wanting a VL haha see what friends do when they get in your ear. If anything Nathan on your budget the 200ZR is the bargain of the day and if you blow an engine it's about 2k for a second hand one how good is that? Remember my 240z only cost me dare I say $7.5k but I have spent over 3k in getting roadworthy and fixiing rust, suspension, etc... but hey I luv it and everyone looks at it no matter where I drive it. Infact I pulled into KFC last night (My classy restaurant) and there was a Porsche boxter parked but everyone was looking at the z with it's throbbing dual exhausts .

    Love the PO's .
  7. I had a look at those bushes from courtest parts in US$ and took the liberty to convert to AU$ and it turns out it works out to 270.114 AUD then you gotta add postage and handling but I wish I bought this when i had to replace my front control arm bushes. I used this currency converter http://www.xe.com/ucc/full.shtml useful tool. Oh if I do get this it might give me a chance to do my front control arm bushes again and this isn't a bad thing because I wanted to make my control arms adjustable for camber, leading question does anyone know of where I can get this done or someone who does this in Australia more so in melbourne. Thanks,
  8. Mick just wondering were the bushes you got polyeurethane (spelling?), or were they the stock rubber sort? I'd be most interested in a set if there the poly sort. :classic:
  9. George the good news Uni joints are cheap and the halfshaft ones are easy to remove and replace no problem. I remember paying $20 each for them the hard part is removing them but yours are broken so they might pop out. I've never upgraded to the CV's but I believe they need to be shortened to adapt to the early Z's. I think someone mentioned something around the $200 mark to me but I can't confirm this... So what happened when it broke? I've never broken one could you still drive it? :classic:
  10. The closer zoomed in shot of your car has changed my mind they are Uni joints which is a good thing because I don't know what you'd do if you were busting up CV's . Anyone else wanna confirm this?

  12. I had a look at the photo's of under your car and can almost be 100% positive there the 280zx CV unit's on there. It's pretty hard to explain the differences but if I can find some photo's of what halfshaft uni joint type look like I'll upload em'. Must be putting out alot of torque to bust those up, so what's it like driving a v8 Z as oppose to the inline 6?

  15. I've heard that deburing and polishing too far causes the fuel mixture to stay binded in blobs as oppose to become a spray when entering the combustion chamber and can make the explosion uneven and cause the car to loose power ??? I've never done this or had this problem just something I was discussing with someone who said he worked with engines alot. Could be like my crossflow head theory for those that read my post there and I could be talking complete bollocks. Awaiting correction Gav,

  17. In Australia I've never seen a 240z with a 260z dash that was meant to be in there. But I have seen alot of Japanese Z's especially those of the ZG nature with the 260z dash. Interesting thread. Gav
  18. I know your Z quite well so I'll be sure to keep an eye out. I figured it would be a good idea to show pictures of what it looks like to keep others who don't know on the look out and what to look for. http://forums.melbccr.com/uploads/225758-DCP02859.JPG http://forums.melbccr.com/uploads/225765-DCP02858.JPG Good Luck:classic:
  19. I think you should put the badges back on. I really like the lower fender ones that read D A T S U N I also like the bonnet one that says Datsun. Problem is old badges look tacky but new badges look stunning. It's your call but I think when I get a chance I'll get a new set for my Z. Jazz her up a bit besides we don't want to get anyone thinking she's a old Ferrari . Z is better anyway .
  20. Not 100% sure but they are necessary after you break your half shafts a couple of times. I'd say anything around 300-400HP will make them cry and give up but that's just a guess. :classic:
  21. Well having owned a 2+2 I don't mind them so much. Do you think that if they do become the rarest of all Z's they will also become valuable? Like the Volvo P1800 the wagons are worth quite a bit because they are very rare here in Aus anyway.:classic: See Attached.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up. Still makes no sense about the 280z chassis prefix but I guess it doesn't really matter since we don't have to deal with the 280z here in Aus. I still see alot of 260z 2+2's infact there the most common ones on the road to see. I see more 260z 2 seaters than 240z's but in all cases it's quite rare in fact I'm positive I see more mustangs around than Z's and we didn't even get Mustangs here did we ben? Seems that your right nobody is restoring 280zx's or 2+2 260z's there are of course a few but you may very well be right the 240z's may be the most common in years to come. Cheers.
  23. Searched on Ebay in the hopes of finding something that might help but the only chassis prefix's I could get on 280z's was HLS30??? This boggles me because I know that the 240z here in Aus is HS30 the 260z RS30 and the 2+2 260z GRS30. Is it the same prefix for 260z's in the US? RS30? It's just something I've never thought about any input is appreciated. :classic:
  24. Steve as far as I know the 280zx became S130. I'm not sure about the prefix for the 280z's as you know us Aussies never got them but I'd say it would be similar to the RS30 convention here in Australia. I'd say that the 280z had another number in front of S30 as S30 resembles the early body shape. S130 designates the new body style Bruce care to share what the chassis prefix on your 280z is? A couple of years back I saw a 280z advertised here in Australia I bet there's a couple floating around but not many. Cheers. As for 2+2's I used to own a 2+2 as Zpeed knows and they were still the fun of an early Z but the extra weight and the looks were not as good. Would I get another? Maybe but it would have to be turbo to be any fun and to get it moving with 4 people in it. But the 2 seaters are just so much better. I don't think I'll ever own a 280zx but never say never.
