Nah, the stupid PO did it
  3. No, its fate. :classic: What sort of condition was it in, compared to when you sold it? How long ago was that?

What's odd about it? Thats were all the after market kits I've seen put them, and later thats where Nissan put it too.

Hi Chris. I think you'll find your engine displacement is closer to 2599 cc.

  7. FYI it's probably better to start a new post and ask your questions rather than resurrect a thread from 2002.

Depends on the circumstances. It usually only illegal if you are doing it to a stolen car. Anyway, we are talking about 3 different countries here, UK, USA, and Aus. The laws are bound to be different from country to country. Nissan recalled a bunch of S30's in Japan and stamped X's over their chassis numbers and gave them new ones. I forget why, but that wasn't illegal.
  9. They are stock for the later S30 in some markets. (eg USA, France).
  10. It would be a Nissan Z series motor. Like a Z18 or Z22. google it.or wikipedia.

You could try getting them to sell it to you the by telling them that you will rebirth it using another cars chassis number (from a wrecked z), so that it wont be traced back to them. Let them drill out the chassis numbers. Then all you will have to do is hunt around for a wrecked car to get the chassis number off. Down-under they resell the impounded cars. I bought one once (an abandoned mazda 808 coupe) for $15 and fixed it up and drove it around for a few years, then sold it.

No I dont. If you dont have a heavily modified (powerful) engine, and only drive on the street, stick with what you have got. If you do auto X then a R180 LSD would help you there as you can power out of corners with both wheels. With and open diff, if one wheel starts slipping you are wasting power. Swapping from an open R180 to an open R200 seems like a waste, unless you happen to have an unused one laying around.
  13. Depends what your definition of stock is I guess. Your excluding factory (genuine Nissan ) options from the stock category. I see your point. These mags were available as a (factory Nissan) option for the S30 from 1974 onwards. http://wazregister.com/index.php?title=Image:260z-factory-mag.jpg All 260Z delivered to Australia had them fitted from the factory. You had no choice but to have them. That probably makes them stock in Australia by some definition.
  14. I've seen the "Battleship" term used alot to describle the look on Z31 forums. Probably because battleships are wide at the deck and narrow where they meet the water. So i suppose they applied it to cars that were wide, but with skinny or recessed wheels. I just thought it was a common American slang term, Guess I was wrong. eg: http://www.z31performance.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9194&p=96641&hilit=battleship#p96641
  15. Everything he said was right, you just didn't get what he meant. He meant that if you run +ve offset wheels on your Z, you wil get the battleship look. Ie, the wheel will be sunken in to the wheel well, compared to if you were running the same wheel with 0 offset.
  16. What about these: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/WWC13/25-1088
  17. Back in the day that was true, these days they do alot of the hard stuff with computer generated images (CGI).

Bricks under the front wheels maybe? NOS, LSD, V8 conversion. Put the videos on youtube.
  19. It might be. The word swastika is derived from the Sanskrit svastika, meaning any lucky or auspicious object, and in particular a mark made on persons and things to denote good luck. The symbol dates back along time before its meaning was corrupted by the Nazis.
  20. They appreciate the cars over there, just like Aussies do with old Fords and Holdens. USA never got Skylines (until the current V series Infiniti).
  21. Damn it. Bigoak types faster than me.
  22. The wind screen is the big glass window on the front of the car. They are telling you that the cause of the leak might be the seal around the windscreen. Try sealing the edges with a tube of sealant. Its cheap enough and cant hurt to rule that out as the source of the leak. Don't be so hard on yourself Matt. Not knowing the correct terminology for stuff doesn't make you a looser, just a noobie.
  23. Do you know what the movie is about?
  24. Generally bad rings will smoke on acceleration or constantly, and bad valve seals will smoke after idling for a while, or on deceleration, but not all the time. Or so I'm lead to believe.
