Half-Shafted
Hi Garth and all, I have thought about the clamp issue for years. A long time ago I worked in a Rain Bird sprinkler distributor. We sold a crimp-on clamp made by Oetiker. They are very close to our half shaft clamps and available in many sizes. You can check them out here. www.oetiker.com or here www.pep-plastic.com/manufacturers/newage/oetiker.htm My old Rain Bird shop had a crimping tool you could rent. But I have seen them on the web for around $28 USD. I personally have used the clamp and tool and I think when I do my half shafts I'm going this route. They have a stainless version so I won't worry about rusting. FWIW, Chris A.

- Kind of Funny, but sad too.
Apparently the owner was driving around a private country club (Mission Hills) and decided to show off. He jazzed it, it broke loose and before he could react, slammed into the pole. I wouldn't want to even estimate repairs. This other picture makes it look worse to me. Ed might me right, cosmetic? Don't know, still kind of sad. Chris- Kind of Funny, but sad too.

Hey All, Surfing around on eBay and found this auction. Very sad. Wish I had money and a larger storage facility. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-1973-1974-datsun-240z-260z_W0QQitemZ8038092304QQcategoryZ6783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Chris- New Store Opened
A chain of stores that sells new husbands has just opened where women may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. "You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch: you may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!" So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs. The second floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids. The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads: Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads: Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads: Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. A New Wives store opened across the street. The first floor has wives that love sex. The second floor has wives that love sex and have money. The third through sixth floors have never been visited. Chris (Thanks Garth)- Heritage Certificate
I guess I got lucky, I'm the second owner and I have the bill of sale to the original owner from the Datsun Dealer in Omaha. It was Dean Rawson Datsun if I remember correctly. Been a long time since I looked through that paper work. I do remember that the original owner of my Z traded in a 455 Firebird for it. I'm guessing the price of fuel in 73 was a factor in his decision. Ahh to pay that price for fuel today! FWIW, Chris- Trivia : How many?

Hi Marty, I took a intake/exhaust gasket to my local metal shop. They cut me a piece of 3/16 aluminum to match the outline of the gasket. I used the gasket and the aluminum to seal off the ports. I made my own for the thermostat housing hole and fuel pump hole. Left the spark plugs in the head. Capped off the block vent tube, heater hose barb(in the head) and breather nipple on the valve cover. I just used cheap little plastic caps from the hardware store. Before I did all this I lubed the upper cylinders (as others mentioned) and I sprayed the cam with white lithium grease and used my hand to smear it all over everything in the valve train. Hopefully minimizing any rusting due to moisture in the air that might get in. You and I both know how humid it gets in the Midwest. I have heard of people getting those little silica desscicant packets and putting them in various places in a motor. But that might be unneccesary. I also heard once of a guy who filled his motor with oil till it was at the oil fill cap on the valve cover. That seems like a lot of oil but it would sure stop rust! Anyway, good luck with the project. I'll be interested in hearing about your different engine when she's in and running. Chris A.- This one's for me mate, Chris.

Only if they live on Brokeback Mountain!!- Patrol On ebay.
Hey Guys, If any of you are serious about a Patrol, there is one near me for sale. Its a late 60's. It has its original drivetrain but has some wiring mods in the cab and under the hood. I looked at it last month. Not too rusty on the body. Not original paint, now red. Bigger tires and wheels (black rims). I can get some pictures if anybody is SERIOUSLY interested as its a bit of a drive to go see it. Chris A.- Oil Pressure Sender NLA?
Hi Marty, Did you try your Nissan Dealer? I got one a year ago with the proper bullet connector, even came with the nifty black rubber cover. Much luck, Chris A.- Bill and his mate.
