Have a friend that has a Z32 painted with that cameleon (spelling?) or Flip Flop paint by Dupont. He was pulled over and the cop gave him a ticket because the registration did not list the color of the car. Don't see to many of those paint jobs anymore around here due to that very problem...I guess. (Sorry to have drifted O T but just wanted to mention that) Vicky

  6. That's been going around a few of the other Z sites. I love the Lambo one "Wind noise around 210mph". I suspect that could down right be true Vicky

If not insane, it would be quite funny. Just don't smile.......you'll get bugs in your teeth. Reminds me of a time I was in Frostproof Florida and I saw an old 60's era Cadillac Fleetwood driving down the interstate with NO TIRES, just rims. I figured the rednecks had to go get their Bush Beer and Dorals and not having any tires on their car wasn't going to stop them. Vicky

James Are you trying motorsport@sbcglobal.net I do believe you can get a direct answer from Greg, the owner, via that e-mail if you direct the problem/question to him. I've e-mailed him before and always received a response that same day. He's a good guy. Best of Luck Vicky

OK after calling numerous Z vendors, closer to Fla, for an air pump (pulley bearing shot, what a terribly embarassing noise) for my 72 and finding none in stock, I call MSA and they have one left. Ordered it at 5:00 pm on Wednesday (10/6) and I received it Saturday (10/9) at 9:30 am. It was shipped regular ground form Cali to Fla for $7.00. Now that's what I call exceptional service. I know not everyone here likes MSA but they have always come through in the clutch for us. The 240Z is now back to being silent but deadly :devious: Vicky
  10. Old tires heated up the street can cause tread separation, no? If there were any minor cracks, could that not lead to a failure of the tire after such extreme driving? The purchase of the BF Goodrich T/A Radials was a great choice ezzzzzzz! Vicky

2-4-T-Z Man has a beautiful convertible Z roadster. Quite unique. Check out his gallery. I've seen the car in person and it's stunning. Vicky
  12. Yeah, I guess so. I can somewhat relate. Last March we won a Chevy 350 at a car show. Bought a ticket for the drawing for $5.00 and won an engine! Pretty wild. All our friends where saying "now ya got something to put under the hood of that Z". My husband basically told them to go H. E. double hockey sticks. The 77 was done, at least engine wise. My suggestion was to put the motor in the 78 and have a 3rd toy as you say. My husband would not think of it. He says the only V-8 Z he will own will be a Scarab. Go fish I tell him (I do have a few lines on a couple Scarabs however). Sold the motor for $1,200 and bought some tidbits for his 77. Best of Luck with your future project Vicky
  13. Did you just "look" over the car or did you actually feel, push, pull and adjust? Looking at a car doesn't show any potential problems. Before you go out for any type of hard driving, especially on a newly purchased old Z that you know nothing about structure wise, you should always make sure things are sound. You took your life in your hands my friend and I'm glad you are OK. Enjoy the Z and don't baby it but do make sure things are in primo shape if you want to do 120 on public streets :classic: Just my opinion so please don't take offense. Vicky
  14. 73 Z? Transplant... to a 318, nooooooooooo! Don't do it!!! Isn't that the "dog" engine of Mopar? Sell the 318 and get some trinkets for your Z. Vicky
  15. That Z gotta "Hemi" :tapemouth Vicky

Hi Andrew I've heard both actually, parts and profits. Everyone of the cars made was sold. But who would be losing out, the build shops, Nissan? If they were loosing so much money why would they even go as far as to build around 40? I know the Nissan dealership in Tampa was really trying to make alot off the 5 cars they had. The sticker in the window of the car we bought was $38K!!!! I called Pierre (one of the shops contracted by Nissan) and he said NO WAY. Ferman Nissan paid him $28,400 for the car and we paid $28,800. (I requested that invoice when we bought the car) Pierre told us that most of the cars he did were in good condition and fairly complete which can lead to less costs in obtaining missing or unoriginal parts. Plus they wanted to use OEM rather than after market parts to keep the cars as correct as possible. I can't imagine trying to build 40 of those cars today. You know that many of the OEM parts are dryed up. But I bet they would still sell. Vicky

Many of the vendors I called said the part was no longer available. I would think some might jump at the chance to buy old pumps. They can rebuild them and sell them for a nice profit. Couldn't hurt to call a few and see if they might be interested Ed. IMO no part on our old Z's is worthless, as time goes by, these things are getting harder to find. Case in point. Look what happened to the Vintage 240Z program. Ran out of OEM parts. They found out that only 40 some cars could be built as opposed to their goal of around 200. Pretty bad. Vicky
  19. All the best from Vicky and myself. Hope to see you back on your feet soon! Scott ( Am I in the doghouse? ) :nervous: :nervous:

No coffee IN the Z, right? Congrats on the new job. Oh yeah, that's the best looking blue Z I've ever seen. Love the color Vicky

Scott in the doghouse over my 72, no way! If you only new what I've done to his car. I unbuckled the seat belt thinking it would retract back, but no. It was laying on the threshold and I slammed the door on it. Nice chip in the paint job. I felt terrible but he never even got angry. What a guy! MSA will have another Air Pump as I'm sending mine back for a core refund ($75.00). From what I understand this is one of the hardest parts to get. Vicky
  22. Now that's the first time I've ever seen a wing AND a spoiler!! That car MUST haul azz and need all that downforce to keep it on the ground...........NOT! :stupid: Vicky

  24. My husbands motto during his entire engine construction "For maximun hp, build your engine from the inside out". He took the L28 as far as you could go and still keep it kinda, sorta, well you know.......street legal Vicky

$106 total shipped ground to Florida, which I thought was pretty good. Carl, the air pump pulley is making an pesky noise. Scott says when looking at the pump you can see where the bolt was not tightened enough causing it to run out of alignment with the water pump & alternator. This then caused the bearing in the pump to "chirp". It's quite embarassing to drive it with that noise IMO. Probably should have followed the owners manual and did a tightening on the car after so many miles. I would have to say this is *****'* fault. Vicky
