How to fix 240K's clock
richard1: are you sure we're talking about the same car, what you're saying may be true for the 240Z however the 240K has a completely different dash. It doesn't get much simpler than removing about 6 screws a trip meter knob and heater knobs and pulling the intstrument surround forward.

Dont get me wrong, that's a damn nice looking vehicle but bore'ing an L28 to 3lt doesn't exactly compensate for the S20 motor enough to consider it GT-R spec. Not for me anyway. I could probably import and do what he's done to that car for less than the purchase price of $31,390NZD. I don't mean to sound bitter though, I'd still have it in a heartbeat if it was possible Damn nice looking cars.

Parts Swapping 240K Sedan to Coupe
Yes, part numbers for grill and front bumpers are the same for Sedan and Coupe 62304-R4601 (RH Grill Piece) 62305-R4601 (LH Grill Piece) 62651-R3000 (Front Bumper) 62651-R3050 (Front Bumper on European Models - Applied from 02/74) The lamp assembly is universal. Oh, and yes the 5speed should be fine, 5speeds were an Option on both the GT Sedan and Hardtop.

240K Auto to Manual tranny Conversion
I think the guy is fobbing you off either because he doesn't know what he's talking about or he's busy with other work or just plain lazy. A standard 5speed from a Zcar should fit in no troubles at all, I have to do this conversion as well, I just have to get the 5speed as the one I already got for cheap was the wrong type (it was a shorty from a 6cyl L-series HR30 Skyline) I'm currently waiting on the Clutch master and Slaves as well as the Pedal Box and an L20ET Flywheel, I've paid for them they just haven't arrived yet the guy has been busy over the Xmas period. Dropping a tranny out is pretty basic stuff, they only place you may run into trouble may be the pedal box but I'll update once I get the parts and have deduced the process a bit further.

How to fix 240K's clock
To get to the clock; Remove the instrument section, there should be about 6 or so screws including the two top ones that look like they're holding the guages in. The annoying part is the trip meter lever, in order to get it off, you have to pull it towards yourself, relatively frimly, but not too much be careful not to break it, and then twist slowly in an anti-clockwise direction, if it just makes clicking noises then you'll have to pull it a bit firmer to make it start to unscrew. Once that trip lever/twister thing is gone she comes out fairly easily and the whole face of the instrument panel should slip out enough to get at the clock. You'll also have to remove the fan knob and the slider knobs for the heater, they just pull off though. If your clock is only running slow, there's a small dial on the back of it that you can adjust to make it faster or slower. If you want a diagram or pointers, let me know I'll see what else I can do for you. Edit: I removed the parts pertaining to the console section as you probably don't need to remove those after I had another quick look, I did when I opened mine up to clear out a vent and to be a bit nosey.

Nice vid, the car looks awesome congrats on that for starters. Are those Simmons Wheels? If not or so or whatever could you give me some info on them? Brand, Size, Price etc? Oh, and where you got them. My brother is after some wheels for his '81 Supra and I think those would fit the bill perfectly, they've got a nice dish and they look to be a decent size. Any info would be appreciated and again, well-done on the car.

guess what I got for X-mas?
I got this just a little bit before Xmas and finished it around that time, unfortunately my hands a bit too shakey to do too much detail work but I did O.K with it. Had to cut the seatbelts 2mm thick out of some material stuff that came with it and then feed them through the plastic buckles you can see on the drivers seat. I'm having trouble finding a KPGC110 model though so if anyone can help out, I'd be most appreciative.

Carb for 240K coupe
A "240K" is the name for the export version of the C110 Skyline. Japanese Domestic Models, were produced with a 4cyl G16 & G18 and 6cyl L20 & the GTR an S20 until 1975 when the C111 series was released which was essentially the same but all the engines were changed to the L-series L16, L18 etc. However, none of the JDM models were ever fitted with the L24 it was only export versions that were which were given the name 240K GT (GL was Australia only and was the exact same car with a different name to combat insurance prices.) Carb for 240K coupe
Shouldn't be a problem at all. The 2000GT-X came with the same dual carb setup as the 240Z so theoretically it should essentially be a bolt-up job. I'm personally going for FI though if I ever get around to it and am willing to not use the car for a few hours or days depending on my laziness.

TWM Throttle Bodies These guys are making or have made one but according to their site it isn't available til March 2004. Top End Performance There's this place but I'm not sure whether this is the same setup as the previous or not, but it has some prices. I found those from just a quick google search you could probably find more with the same but checking past the first 20 results, which I did not.

It would probably be easier and cheaper to buy an aftermarket one that's been made to fit an L-series than it would be to get a GTR one and promptly screw around with it. Just a thought.

Spark plugs
My first reaction was, old motor vs. new motor, hell no... then I thought.. well... that's hardly a sound reply that he asked for. So I did some research, examined the denso website and cross referenced the data I found in the modify Nissan book. The Denso plugs you have are equivalent to the NGK BCPR6, and the plugs you should be using should fall in the NGK B7ES B6ES and B5ES range with 5 being the hottest, theres also; "Wide Gap - BP?ES-11" and "Projected - BP?ES" All of the above plugs also come with an ® option which stands for Resistor just to create less electrical interference. Note: I had a whole lot more written then I decided to check the NGK site. B = 14mm Thread C = Hex Size 5/8" P = Projected Insulator Type R = Resistor 6 = Heat Range, which seams fine. ES = Standard 3/4" Thread Reach (2.5mm) Centre Electrode -11 = Gape range 1.1mm .044" Here's the web addresses I used; NGK Letter Explanation DENSO Comparative Chart DENSO Plug Specs List (look for IQ20 which is the Iridium Equiv. of the Q20) That says the thread length of the Q20 plug is the same 19mm (3/4") as the NGK BCPR6 Up to you now. Going by spec sheets they should work, however, I probably still wouldn't and I shant take any responsibility for your choice or actions after reading the sources or my comments. (Disclaimer)

There's some more pics in my gallery of the Y70's chambers before I started cleaning her up. I too hadn't heard of it until recently on the forums someone is selling a JDM 2lt with a Y70 so perhaps the Y70 was the JDM head used for the 2 litre L series engines? No idea really.

Did the fact it has; Kemono - The Beast Also known as 120 Y or B 210 Staring you in the face when you load the page give that away? do you think? :stupid: Of course if you run a resolution lower than 1280x1024 it might not be there automatically and you may have had to scroll to read the above mentioned. It would seem like an awfully large length to goto to make something up, if you're still skeptical try the "others" link, I'm not denying it could be bollocks but it's pretty cool either way... and I thought decent C110 pictures were hard enough to get... screw trying to find those.

Y70 Sparkling
I have no idea, this head is the one I got off the HR30 Skyline that I had to do a weekend mission to get (800kms) it with Loom, In/Ex Manifolds, ECU, Dizzy, Coil, 5speed (which I can't use as it's a "short" one) the K actually has an E30 head on her at the moment, which is what they came with, the only thing I've noticed about this head is that it's got an E30 crankshaft in it, which I'm assuming is normal but I really have no idea, I haven't actually physically seen the combustion chambers and valve on a different head to note anything, when it comes to doing the swap, I'll find out then and let you know.

Y70 Sparkling
I gave the Y70 a bit of a clean up, it's not finished yet, but it looks a lot better than it did, it used to be caked in 1-2mm of brown grime. now it's nice and shiney from a distance. Hurrah, now I'm working on cleaning up the intake manifold and fuel rail etc, should look pretty decent when it's all done.
