Vids from SDU meet in Queenstown, NZ
Hey guys, Weekend just been there was a small gathering of the SDU (Skylines Down Under) club (Southern section) in Queenstown, NZ. Here's the links to a few clips, they're not big at all so will only take a few minutes to download even on 56K This is one of some of us leaving the "Skyline Gondola's" (yes the company is called Skyline, we even went to the trouble of parking infront of the building to take a picture ) is was taken with a digital camera (as opposed to a video camera) .MPG of leaving Skyline building -- 220KB The following clips are taken with a Sony-Ericsson P900 mobile from the passenger seat of my car (by my brother). The are in .mp4 format which can be played using Quicktime or you can download a codec from somewhere. .mp4 SDU Queenstown Cruise 01 -- 0.8MB , 45 seconds long .mp4 SDU Queenstown Cruise 02 -- 2.0MB , 2 minutes They're not tremendously exciting but you get a little bit of scenery and if you have decent speakers you can kinda hear my car purr.

Babelfish @ altavista.com Is one. World Lingo Translator Is another. However, the important links on the RS-Watanabe site are image files so the translator doesnt help tremendously

Opinions/Knowledge on Triple SU's
The guy claims they were bought for a now abandoned 260Z project, I assume nothing particularly relating to the triples but probably more the lack of finding cheap parts in NZ. You'll have to excuse the spelling etc, it's taken directly from his text. --- tripple s u's for datsun abandond project four 6 cylander L series. Has been done overseas. Manifold is allimuium. four carbs one for spare. To me the length of the 3,4 runners seem possibly long enough to cause issues but I have no idea when it comes down to it, anyone have anything to add? Obviously all the linkages will still have to be made etc. but if it goes for cheap enough it may be worth it. perhaps....

Opinions/Knowledge on Triple SU's
Hey guys, I'm curious is a triple SU setup for an L24 worth the bother?? There's a manifold and some roundtops to go with it up for sale and I'm curious as to whether it would actually be worth the time and money and if so, how much would you pay for such a thing?

Trying to idendify Wheels
www.rs-watanabe.co.jp But it's all in Japanese so it can be a mission to find things if you don't speak or read Japanese, I've navigated around it several times so if you want to know anything inparticular let me know and I'll probably be able to find it

New, just have some questions.
The mind reels at the possibilities of "pilot bushing" .. whatever could it mean? I have no idea if that's what it's "actually" called come to think of it, that's just what popped up in my head though. Just the wee brass coloured bushing that sits in the end of the crankshaft. I had no idea I needed one when I did my conversion but luckily enough the guy who sent me my master and slave cylinders chucked one in there for me as well. I just looked it up in my C110 parts manual and got; 32202-30000 | BUSH-SHAFT.1ST MOTION Talk about the mind boggling.

I thought the designation for the 33GTR was BCNR33 ? I know the 32GTR is BNR32 and the 34GTR is BNR34 but for whatever reason the 33 get's a C in there, perhaps it's designation for the big, heavy, boring looking, whale.

1965 Silvia for sale in the UK
Given the email address on that website and the email address in the advertisement from classiccars are one in the same, I would say that's a pretty accurate wondering. :classic: That's awesome! Please provide us (or at the least.. me:classic:) with a large collection of pictures once you get her.

1965 Silvia for sale in the UK
Well, with only 554 built, I'd assume a hell of a lot more than 5000 pounds, but I have no idea to be honest. (I assume you mean the CSP311 and not some other later model Silvia)

1965 Silvia for sale in the UK
sblake01; Just to clarify... Silvia, not Sylvia. :classic: It's a little annoyance of mine, I spent some time searching for an S13 for sale before I found my 240K and some were listed under "Sylvia" and thusly I missed them in my searches for "Silvia" v12horse; A '65 Silvia CSP311, a very beautiful car, definately seems almost a bargain at 5000GBP (granted that's $15000NZD -- still though :classic: ) I'd have a CSP311 over most Fairlady's and Skyline's I absolutely adore them.

Mystery Dash Clock
There's actually a dial/knob on the back of the K's clock to adjust the speed faster or slower.

Zs in video games
NooooooooOOOoo, it doesn't. British flag, indeed! preposterous I believe it looks more similar in race trim to this:

Zs in video games
It's not hard to get at all, the used cars change every ten days, and are available for ten days until the next change, the KPGC10 2000GT-R is available at day 40 til 50 and then again at day 80 til 90 etc, the Fairlady 240ZG I believe is on a similar rotation though initially appear around day 20. Note: It may not be exactly 40, but it's around that area. I hired an XBOX and Project Gotham 2 out the other day, it's shite and the 240Z in it is pretty bollocks to drive too, which was disappointing, I spent a while just doing enough to unlock everything to get to a point where I could use it, and it was pooh... it has a rear spoiler and it doesnt quite look accurate. GT4 will apparently have the collection of cars from previous GT's as well as the used feature again and more cars.. 500+ as well as the complete Nurburgring course.. all 20.8kms of it

FS WATANABE's BRISBANE AUSTRALIA...
I would have to agree with Alan, that definately looks like the Black Racing 'BR' logo inside the oval. As opposed to the three birds in the circle RS-Watanabe logo. Not Watanabe's but the same 8 spoke style. They also look to be quite a positive offset, more suited to a modern car. What kind of suspension did the 240Z drift car have? do you have pics of them on the car itself?

RS-Watanabe / Speed Star Wheels Question.
Crap dammit!! I had a nice reply all written out and posted it but the attached picture was too big and then when I went back my reply was gone! Ok, I'll break it down cause I'm not writing it all out again. Ben, cheers for the link, Still confused, Still interested, at least them (Watanabe) going bust may go a slight way to explaining it. 1GENZED, yeah, I agree it's nice to know someone makes new oldschool style rims, if I wasnt so obsessed with Watanabe's I might even consider getting some .. somehow I've attached an image of the various castings, you'll have to excuse the underside photo being slightly out of focus, the camera auto-focuses, and due to the surface mount area being closer, that's what it focused on it is still easy enough to read regardless.

RS-Watanabe / Speed Star Wheels Question.
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I recently convinced my brother to pick up a set of Watanabe RS-8 rims despite the fact that neither of us have an appropriate car to use them on, for the simple fact that they were too cheap to pass up. Upon picking them up from the freight depot today I gave them a bit of a clean and noticed that.. on the top, it has the three birds inside the circle with "racing" cast in it, yet on the underside or inside of the rim, it has 'RS-Eight' , 'Made In Japan' & 'Speed Star' cast into it, there are also stickers on the inside of the rim itself stating it's a Speed Star Wheel. I went to the speedstar website but it has nothing in regards to this, does anyone know (Alan, Maybe) what the deal is? I've attached a picture of the rims 5x114.3 stud, 16x7 fronts and 16x8 rears for $300 + 35 freight (NZD) ... see what I mean? too cheap to pass up.

Best looking Z you've ever seen?
Alan (HS30-H), thanks for the info, I thought I could read Bridgestone on the tyre but wasn't sure. Looking forward to seeing your next selection of project progress photos v12horse, I agree kats car is beautiful, everyone should be forced to take a look at it for me personally though there's something weird about looking into a car especially a Z and seeing the steering wheel on the wrong side I'm sure you probably experience a similar feeling looking into RHD cars Regardless there's been some very nice cars listed and shown I wish people would add some more, I like checking out the best of the best (after Skylines ).

Best looking Z you've ever seen?
Hey Alan, Out of curiousity, are those Bridgestone tyres or Dunlops? also, did they come with the text painted in or was that done afterwards, do you know? It certainly is a nice car to sit and admire as well. How is your replica coming along?

Best looking Z you've ever seen?
I would have to say Alan's (HS30-H), Grand Prix Maroon ZG, I love it. , any chance I get to see pictures, even the slightest hint of the car and I stare at it for a while, just admiring it. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1132&password=&sort=7&thecat=3070

Auto -> Manual, Electrics Query
Yeah, that shouldnt be a problem, just make sure your clutch pressure plate matches the width of surface area on the flywheel.. the ZX 2+2 has a bigger diameter, so to be extra certain you could just try make sure that you get the clutch and flywheel from the one car and just to be sure it fits try sliding the clutch plate onto the gearbox shaft, they should all fit, bt it would be horrible if you spent a few hours trying to line the bastard up only to find out it wasn't going in because the bloody thing didnt fit This page is a bit clearer on the Flywheel situation http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html

Auto -> Manual, Electrics Query
I used a 280ZX 5speed... well, that's what the guy said it was from, but the gears are alot closer together than I remember my brother's 1979 280ZX being. Any L-series 5speed should be a bolt on job, just make sure it's not a "shorty" box from an R30 6cyl L20A otherwise you'll fall short when you try connect the driveshaft back up. If you can get a 5speed from a 240K, and it's cheaper, I'd probably just go with that and that way you can take all the other bits you need from the car if there's one at the wreckers. pedals, master and slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel. etc. be sure to grab the flywheel bolts too because they're longer than the flexplate bolts that you'll take off. and you'll have to get a crankshaft/spigot bush as well.. which is just a wee sleeve that slots into the end of the crankshaft that isnt there for autos P/N 32202-30000 Oh, and I had to get my brother to borrow a rattle-gun to get the freakin flexplate bolts off.. they were on pretty damn tight, short work for a rattle-gun but hard work on the arms when you're upside down under a car

New Graphics on my Z
When you click the link, remove the " . " from inbetween phK.Zg in the last section of the url, it should work then if you have YahooID, theoretically.. it tells me I dont have permission. I know it's irrelevant now as you've already posted the picture.. but, well.. well... but.. well... but... but... :dead: I was going to say the paintjob looks very 80's M-series Beemer-ish but there's something weird about it being on a curved car. How far away is it from being finished and ready to go? I'd love to see it out in the sunshine being put to the test tholt29, Looks good, you chose well. I still would have preferred the rising sun though :devious: even if just for the irritation it would have caused in texas ... mind you, you could paint a big turd on your car and it would still look good, it's an S30.
