Well it's been fun guys but...
I'm thinking of taking a break away from the site for a while for personal reasons. I'll always have my Z Car and will never never never part from it and Im eager to get it back out in the spring when the weather gets nice again so I can take it out for joy rides again and work on it I just get very busy at work and my cars and other personal stuff usually take up my weekends Just thought I'd let everyone know so no one thinks I'm dead Take care all,

No, I agree you should do it. Might as well since you got all the coolant drained. Just was pointing out that it needs to be serviced more frequently and not only when replacing a radiator. You don't have a factory Service Manual? I'd get one as soon as you can. Courtesy has them on CD ROM. Try a search on this site and if you still can't find any instructions, then I could probably send you an e-mail with some details on "How to". I won't be able to tonight though. Have to work in the morning Good luck

Yep, go with the 180 degree T Stat. and yes get a Factory one Courtesy Nissan has them for $10.04 http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=21200-S30Z Another pointer- Make certain you get all of the old gasket off before installing the new one and be careful not to scratch the surface where the gasket sits when removing the old one BTW, Thermostats need to be replaced when needed. Not only when replacing a radiator

It can still get damn hot here in the summer. Remember how hot it got this last summer? Humidity makes it feel much worse and when your in traffic. Yes, a good OEM Fan Clutch is money well spent. leaving the bad Fan Clutch in is asking for more expensive problems but anyways, the drain on the block is located on the drivers side. It's pretty hard to miss. I'd take a photo for you but unfortunately my Z is in storage for winter BTW, 72-83 Non turbo all used the same Fan Clutch. 70-71 240's were different

Exactly Stephen, I too speak from experience Just ask any Z owner that has made the mistake of purchasing an aftermarket Fan Clutch. Or hell even do a search on any Z Car Site. You will find that they were returning them to there local parts stores like Checker, Autozone ect. over and over again with much disappointment and anger. Then they finally get sick and tired of repeating the repair a few times and get a Factory Nissan Part and are finally done with it. I understand being a teenager your budget doesn't allow you to do all the things your heart desires which is why I stated in my last post that it's just my opinion and do what your budget allows and if thats all your budget allows is aftermarket than go for it. you can only do what you can do on a tight budget. My point though is that certain things wheather your budget allows for it or not, aftermarket just flat out is NOT acceptable and what should have been a simple project in the first place will end up causing you more pain and frustration and money in the end because the aftermarket part keeps failing miserably. The Fan Clutch for example is one of the items that falls into this category. You can go ahead and try an aftermarket Fan Clutch. I'm not at all trying to tell you what to do with your Z. However, just be aware that you may end up doing this job more than once which will result in you saying not so nice language as the aftermarket Fan Clutches (in my experience with Z's) are known to fail shortly after you install them. About your tranny fluid and differential fluid being in question, I would highly recommend just changing it with new, clean fluid. It's probably not only low, but god knows when it was last changed? I know your probably thinking "Here he goes again" but it's just cheap insurance. You don't want to be shopping for a tranny and differential next :paranoid: I'll just shut up now Take care man and do what you can and remember, we are always here to help you if you need it LaterZ

Yeah, it's a bad fan clutch. I have to disagree on "Checker being the best Auto Parts Store" I personally use nothing but Genuine Nissan Parts. Kinda like the old saying goes: "You get what you pay for" I've seen too many people that have had trouble with aftermarket fan clutches that go to hell shortly after they install them. Aftermarket can be ok for some stuff. It just depends on what it is. BTW, the above is just my opinion. Do what you want and what your budget allows.

Oil pressure sending unit ??
10W30 is also what I use. I think thicker oil is a mistake in my opinion if you live in cooler weather. Some use that 20W50 weight which is way over kill in cooler climates. The 10W30 will reach the upper half of the motor faster and will provide much better lubrication. Now if you live in areas with 100+ degree heat than 20W50 is a must. It is normal to have higher pressure when cold and when your reving the motor. It will always read lower at idle. Sounds like it's working correctly to me.

Another Newb to the board

Hope you southern Z'ers are enjoying the weather
Found it. Looks pretty close to mine. You won't go wrong with either one really. You can't find any 15" slotted mags? MSA just came out with them recently. Sharp looking. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=25-1087&Category_Code=WWC13 I Just sold a really nice set of 5 slotted mags last year to another guy who had a '75 280Z when i got my Panasports. But they were 14" Mint shape too. "Is the spending never going to end!!!" Nope Just like any hobby it's expensive but its well worth every penny

ddezso, Must be rough  Yeah, it sure is beautiful down there in AZ. this time of year. I bought my Z from a guy in gilbert AZ. I always joked with him and said "yeah, when I'm driving the Z, your parking your car due to the 100+ degree weather and when I'm putting mine away for winter, your breaking your car out Nice shot of your 240Z. Looks like you had a beautiful day to go cruising around.

Yeah, scraping undercoating is no way to spend your vacation  but when else can you do it? It's been pretty mild here in MN. We did have 40-50 degree weather then last night on thanksgiving after I got home is when this stuff started GGRR. First measureable snow we have gotten this year.

Mysterious electrical issues...
Why would I want to try it? Never knew that since I've never made that mistake If it's not that then It's for sure got to be a wiring problem.
-
Mysterious electrical issues...
Wrong bulbs in the tail lights wont cause the interior dash lights to come on along with the front parking lights when you hit the brake pedal. I still believe It's got to be a wiring issue somewhere.
-
Mysterious electrical issues...
Only way to find the problem is to study the wiring diagram in your Factory Service manual and correct the wires that are hooked up incorrectly. Hope you have a F.S.M. Next time you disconnect any wires, label them to prevent headaches like this from happening. just a friendly helpful tip. Can't always rely on memory. Best of luck.

Hesitation at 3000 RPM/Oil Leak?
Yes, the valves can get deformed. However like mentioned earlier, I doubt your valves are in that bad of shape unless whoever had the car before drove the hell out of it. You should be able to get by with just doing the seats only. Only way you will know for sure what all needs to be done is when you have it apart obviously to see.
-
Battery out
nah. It will just need to relearn YOUR driving habbits after you reinstall the battery in the spring
-
Hesitation at 3000 RPM/Oil Leak?
Correct KDMatt, the 75-76 heads came with softer bronze valve seats for use with leaded gas. I wouldn't cross that off your "to do list" because it sure sounds to me that the Valve Seats are the cause of your problem. If it were a head gasket problem then she would be smoking like crazy all the time. even when warm. If your not comfortable doing this job and don't have the tools required to do it, then I guess the best thing for you would be to ask that "friend of a friend" and see if he would be willing to help you out. As for the Valves and Valve Springs- I don't know who told you that they need to be changed every 25,000 miles but thats False. Like Lance said "in a normally driven car valve springs last forever" Just inspect there condition when it's taken apart. Best of luck.

Cant keep my ass on the road
Sean240Z, Just don't let it happen again Seriously, I didn't intend to sound like a dink. I don't care that you didn't mention me. The last thing I need is attention. Just saying I agree thats all. Have I put my Z away yet? Yep. Actually I'm surprised, No snow yet. Hell it got up to 64 degrees today but this weekend there saying it will go the other way. Z withdrawl? ahhh YEAH  I gotta pull my battery out this weekend and put it in my basement. I already did everything else to "winterize" it.
