  1. Sorry, I don't have any up close photos of them. They are really nice and are nothing like the ones in post #1 MSA doesn't even carry them. They are the metal ones and are very hard to find. When I get some time, I'll take an up close photo of them.
  2. Yeah, thats kinda what I thought. I can just see the chrome coating peeling off over time  I like the ones I have and I'm going to keep them but I was just curious who had tried them and how well they actually held up.
  3. The A.F.M. Boots are still available through Nissan. I had to replace mine last year and they had them
  4. "I don't think you want any new holes in your car if you can prevent it." No, I don't If thats the case then it's not going to happen. Thats something I'll have to research
  5. They are new from Motorsport. They look damn sharp but the "chrome-over-plastic" thing is what kinda makes me wonder how well they will hold up :paranoid: Link - http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/LNP1/50-1156
  6. Wow sold already? Stephen did you buy it?

Well, I was finally able to get her out today for the first time this year after getting a good rain first to wash the streets nice and clean and man am I happy First thing I did was dropped the oil and changed that obviously and did a few other little things and took her on a nice highway cruise this evening. Sure is great to have my baby back out again :D

There ya go Congrats. Someone who didn't know what the hell they were doing must have messed around with the idle adjustment on your Z for some odd reason before you got it Anyway glad it was something simple
  9. "so I decided to drain the tank. Ugh… I get everything ready, turn the screw and brown gas comes out, as I fill the container I notice that there is some clear liquid that’s separated from the rest." Well, you just answered your question right there as to why she doesn't want to run. Obviously lots of water/moisture entered your tank and you got major rust and junk inside your gas tank. When fuel tanks get that bad, a simple Flush job usually doesn't cut it. That gas tank is going to have to be completely removed from the car and professionally cleaned and coated internally then work your way up to the engine bay cleaning out lines ect. As bad as yours sounds, it may be easier on you to just get a new refurbished tank for it all ready to install. I'm sure all that rust and crud has clogged all the filters too (The small one at the inlet side of fuel pump, and the one under the hood) and when the filters clog, it not only restricts fuel flow, but more crud will come through and bypass the clogged filter and will clog up the injectors. Put it this way, it's no simple project Best of luck with it all.

Before you replaced the connectors, what did it idle at? Without the air on and it's idling, do you notice a miss in the engine? What did you use to connect the new connectors to the existing harness? Just trying to figure out other possible causes.
  11. MAN I would love to be there with my beautiful Z. There new location for the show looks sweet too. Wish I didn't live so darn far away Have fun and take some digital photos for us poor bastards that can't be there

Yes, there is something to bump up the idle for the A/C They are the magnet valves located near the pass. side fender in the engine bay. Sblake seems to be good with A/C's and I'm sure he will chime in soon. Your idle is way to low though which is part of the problem. If you have an Automatic trans. the idle should be @ 700 RPMs with transmission in Drive. On a manual transmission model, the idle should be at 800 RPM's
  13. Do you notice a strong fuel smell when cranking the starter? How old is the fuel in your tank? when was your fuel filter last replaced? Have you checked for possible vacuum leaks? Just trying to start with the simple things first
  14. Well, so were mine  1 out of the 4 turned out to be defective so I got another one free Freak things like that can happen sometimes.
  15. This is a pretty obvious thought but check the strut itself too. I've had one go to hell on me and when riding on a rougher road all I could hear from that front right wheel was a constant thumping/bumping noise. Drove me nuts. Replaced the defective strut with a new one and bingo- No more noise

E.C.U. is what you meant to say Yes, you can perform tests at the harness if you have a factory service manual to follow all the step by step procedures and a good multimeter. One VERY important thing before you unhook the harness at the E.C.U. to do your tests is to make sure the battery is disconnected first. Failure to do so can result in damage to the E.C.U. Thought I'd point that fact out incase your current E.C.U. is Good and not the cause of the problem. Your FSM. will cover that too anyways Besides checking your fuel pump, What other things have you checked so far? The more info. you can provide to us, the better we can try to help you out
  17. Hello greekmaster, I had to redo all mine last summer. My fuel rail sprung a leak and I had everything apart, so I redid everything Replaced injectors, top and bottom 0 rings, new plastic holders, fuel rail, hoses, clamps ect. All Nissan parts. I say do it right the first time -redo all 6 injectors IF your having problems with them because the other 5 I'm sure won't be far behind. I.M.O it's stupid to go through all the work of taking everything apart which can be a time consuming project especially for someone thats new to it, and only do the 1 injector. It's just good insurance and piece of mind knowing all 6 are new and are all the same age but thats just me. when you think about it, the other 5 (even though they are working) should still be removed anyways to redo the 0 rings at least. I bet the 0 rings have never been touched and have seen better days and those will be leaking on you next. Again, these are just my thoughts so do the best you can with what your budget allows I like many on here specialize in the first generation Z's so I'm not positive on all the little changes Nissan may have made on the ZX compared to mine. I do know the fuel rail is different compared to my 1977 280Z. Starting with the 1978 280Z - 83ZX they redesigned the fuel rail so you don't have all those sections of rubber fuel hoses connecting all the fuel pipes togeather like I got so that should make it easier for you. Another important thing about the rubber fuel hoses when you replace them, make damn sure it's high pressure F.I. rubber hose and not just regular rubber fuel hose. As far as the connectors go, Courtesy Nissan sells them as well but as long as they are not cracked or damaged, I'd try giving your current ones a good cleaning first. Yours are probably just corroded. Best of luck.

I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet, but that 240Z has the rear panel off a 260Z, 280Z :paranoid:
  19. I was bumming around on there yesterday just for fun being Mike must have been doing updates yesterday and I couldn't get on here  and I too saw that 280Z and thought the same thing Enigma said "Beautiful, but that engine bay needs a good cleaning. That would be a nice one to have, but I already have my low mileage beauty

Hey Ron, Yeah, you don't have to go far at all to hit some beautiful country roads with some nice S curves here. That garage I got for her is just great. Not only excellent protection from the weather, but also excellent security protection too She did get a little dust though on her from sitting in storage. I swept her off with my original california car duster that I always keep in the hatch before I took the photo

Went to my storage garage were I keep my beauty to check up on her today and MAN I can barely wait to get her back out. I have to wait till it rains though because we still have some junk on the roads that winter left behind. They did sweep our streets which helps a lot, but I still like to wait for a good rain storm afterwords to flush the streets clean before I even back her out of the garage. It's been a LONG winter
