Recently found a close ratio 5 speed from a 83 ZX. I understand it’s a “FS5W71B” transmission. Searching for a rebuild kit with synchro’s. I’ve found kits for suffix models “C” & “E” etc. but none referencing “B”. I hear Transtar is reputable but not having any luck finding a kit. Any information would be much appreciated.

What are the chances of finding the center section only to complete the set. I’m transforming my 280.

I have a question on the same subject except I’m removing a AT from my 78 280Z with a r180 diff. Replacing it with a close ratio 5spd. Pairing it with the R200 from a 83 280ZX. Can I use the same drive shaft and half shafts from my 78? I heard I need to change the mustache bar as well.

Just joined the forum. 78 280Z Has-been garaged over 10 years. Running extremely rich the last time it ran. Just pulled it out and removed the tank for cleaning. Fear many of the injection components will not function any longer. Other than injectors any thoughts. I have the FSM. Owned the Z since 1984.
