  1. GTi-Rs are great fun in a straight line.....but I can guarantee any zed car driver will be VERY disapointed with the handling on a stock one.....it feels terrible.
  2. I'll stick with my little old datsuns thanks. Zed>Sunny>Mirage
  3. san_maru_zed is talking about the Peugot 205GTI.....not a bad bit of kit. I'm looking at buying a hot hatch as a daily when I finish uni later this year. Maybe a 206GTI 180 or Renault Clio Sport Cup.
  4. Here's one for ya: http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67186118 Ooooo! Or this! TOUGH! I love it! http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67185676 Or how about: http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67184834 http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67186337 http://users.tpg.com.au/adslfjbb/gtir/index.htm http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67185917
  5. *Nods* That'd be very cool.
  6. 180SR = Nathan There's a few others like Caillin (20DET), Bozz, and a few others whose names I cannot remember that aren't wankers.
  7. That's a bit of a big generalisation Mick! While there are plenty of tossers driving them up here, I also know a bunch of really great guys that drive them. Maybe it's just that the tossers are the ones that make themselves noticed. You'll have to come on a cruise with us some time Mick....meet a bunch of the non-tossers in the T'ville car scene.
  8. Just a heads up for the aussies. Looks pretty neat. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2030&item=4527691622&rd=1
  9. As far as I know they wont be available under SEVS, so no more of any age will be allowed from now on. If the 15 year rule were to have continued, then any year that they weren't sold in australia would have been available. That's my understanding of it anyway.....correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. True. People have to remember that a fark load of them have already been imported and there's always plenty of them for sale privately.
  11. Lachlan: The R32 GT-R is not available under sevs..... Looks like it'll be 2019 before they're imported again. :-/
  12. Gav: The ZX turbo would be pre 89, therefore you can still import them without having to go through SEVS etc. My understanding of the situation is that you will still be able to import pre 89 vehicles, until ~2019, then the year will start increasing. Just imagine how crapped out all the GT-Rs, 300ZXs etc will be by then.
  13. They're also known as jellybeans.
  14. Bill, while you're in that area have a very close look at the chassis rails. Just pretty much right where my RH rail rusted through then snapped.
  15. The later cedric model certainly looked better, but that's still very cool none the less.
  16. Not sure on that one actually! Will be interested to hear. So if the V in VG is because it's a vee engine, what's the G for? What the Q in VQ for?
  17. Another viable option would be to keep it in the family and change to something like a nissan ECU. The RB20DET ECCS ECU would be perfect. Cheap as chips, remappable etc. If you have the gear you can DIY, or there are plenty of places around down south that have the gear to remap the nissan ECUs. There's plenty of .bin (the contents of the ECUs EEPROM) files for various nissan engines in various states of modification out there on the net. I'm sure you could find something that would be a good base to get it running at least.
  18. *pedantic bastard mode on There was actually one dual overhead cam Z31, the RB20DET NICS powered 200ZR. /pedantic bastard mode

23 years old here. That makes my zed 7 years old when I was born. It fits the young guy = street car theory too. Maybe in a few years when time and money allows there will be a zed racer project on the cards. My little sunny is the same age as me however, maybe that's why I like it so much.
  20. The kalmaker software is not free IIRC. I'd suggest doing a search over at PF as it's been discussed there heaps (some of the info may be missing since it was hacked though). If you can't find much, post up in the ECU section as there are a few ppl that are quite knowledgeable on this topic.
  21. Yeah the oz model is VG30ET.
  22. Yep....the clocks do die.
  23. No.there was not.the VG30DET is a VG30DETT not one T but two TT, which only came in the Z32s and some infinitis... Nope, there most certainly was a VG30DET which came in a bunch of models including the Y31, Y32, F31 series cars. Power was 255PS (in some of them at least). It seems many have done the VG30DET -> Z31 swap, I was just wondering if there was a Z31 from the factory with the twin cam VG.....it seems not.
  24. I've driven a mates Z32tt quite a bit so can comment on this. After getting out of an S30, the Z32 certainly feels pretty damn fat. But, if you do get in there and give it a good go, they're surprisingly nimble for a car of their size and have plenty of mechanical grip. Driving position is good IMO, but some don't like it. Powerwise, not overly quick when stock, but with exhaust, larger intercoolers and some more boost it's quite a different story. Maintenance can be a PITA though. Nothing overly hard, just everything is a little bit more time consuming than on most other cars. My mate has sucessfully done pretty much all the servicing and modifications on his Z32 himself and he's no mechanic. On the topic of the Z31, wasn't there also a VG30DET powered model? Was that a jap only model like the RB20DET powered version?

*Pedant mode on What universe is that? Not the one I'm in. Here's it's Force = mass x acceleration *DZ runs and hides*
