There was a white 280C for sale here in Townsville the other weekend for $800. Not perfect, but didn't look too bad either. Its been on eBay once before and didn't sell.

Cheers for the link Lachlan. Re the nick name: I never really liked the Datto-Zed nickname.....it was sort of a last resort because the ones I wanted were taken (way back in the day, when I was signing up at another forum). After that the name just stuck. Anyhow, I finally decided it was time for a change (to my real life nickname). Not a bad thing around here (to ditch the old one), where the forum is all about datsun zed cars.

Didn't think they were ever sold in australia with the mirrors there?

For those running non windows computers, try maps.google.com, a cut down but still very useful tool.
  5. On the other hand, there were factory straight 6s with tripple SUs, eg Torana XU1 GTR.....so it can't be too bad.
  6. ...more airflow. However, it's still not and ideal setup, having uneven pulsing.
  7. I'd take a rough stab and say around $5k+ for something with a neat body/interior.

...or just plumb the breather hose into the intake anywhere ahead of the throttle body.
  9. About 2 years ago. Do what drunkenmaster said.
  10. Mine are SuperPro, bought from the local Fulcum suspension shop. www.superpro.com.au
  11. Bit of an update... It had started to miss again occasionally, so I finally got around to bypassing the ballast resistor....no probs after that. I still haven't got around to sorting out the sticky vac advance, so it's still unhooked. Also, I'm pretty certain the centrifugal advance isn't working correctly either, as timing will jump around from time to time. By golly though, when it does get into just the right spot, this thing has top end power like I've never seen it have before! Ran like that once for a week or so (good week that one ), then dropped the top end again. You can really hear the difference in the engine note, between it running well and running crap. Gets a much more urgent and serious bark to it. Hopefully in a few weeks when I have some time I'll strip the dizzy back and rebuild it.

Yes. Then I come back to my senses.....or maybe more to the point, my sensibility goes straight back out the window again.

There's a long weekend? :surprised Two weeks till my thesis is due.....pretty flat out with that at the moment.....so no zedding happening around here. When it's over though, I should finally have some spare time to bolt the new engine together. I'm really looking forward to that!

$^!# hey....not a bad price at all! Who will be selling them?
  15. Actually, scratch the RB20 ECU idea.....I'm getting projects mixed up. I'll need something using MAP for the load input. I'd definitely be looking at Autronic.
  16. No turbo. Whipple 2300. Cooler = water air ECU = Not sure. Possibly (call me mad) nissan RB20 ECU. My mates have all the gear for reprogramming these, and are currently developing a setup to allow you to do it on the fly, without using an EEPROM emmulator, just using the consult port. What will make it a little more difficult it adapting the CAS to where the dizzy was. Has been done before mind you.
  17. Keep us updated when that happens. For my initial setup on the L26 I wont be too concerned if it's not perfectly matched. I'll only be running low boost on that, pretty much as a bit of a shake down for the setup, make sure it all works well. Later on I'd look and spending some $$ on a tough motor....and of course that'll have a cam to suit. Anyway...that's all a few months off at least. :-/
  18. Yeah your name is Dave right?! Nice. I just wanted to get an idea of what a relatively stock L series will do with some boost. Seems like they respond quite well! I have your cams big (but still small) brother sitting on my desk here (58640).... Will be interesting to see how it goes. Should still be small enough to be suitable for my future forced induction plans too.
  19. Dave: Is your manifold stock? Match ported? Deburred? Is you engine internally stock? Cam? What's your estimated current power output @ what boost pressure? Ok...I'm done with the questions.
  20. Bubbleguinea: Nice! Very nice! Now...I am always a little weary of aftermarket inlet manifolds, as often there hasn't really been much thought, development or testing put into them, resulting in an uneven distribution of flow to each runner. Do you know what sort of development this manifold has been through? Are there any figures/dyno charts etc available to back it up? Any chance you could take a few more pics of it for me please, including the inside of it if possible. Cheers, Justin
  21. G'day guys! Thanks for the responses. Gotta start by saying I love your engine bays and engines detailing! Awesome jobs on both. Bubbleguinea: Love the colour combo on your engine! I gather that lone wolf intake is a modified L28 item ya? What exactly do they change? SteveK: That intake and exhaust setup you have there is pure automotive porn! Love it! So as a general rule, a cleaned up L28 manifold will do a pretty good job on a big HP forced induction motor? The reason I'm looking down this avenue is because the engine in question will be supercharged, not turbocharged. With this supercharger, it'll be operating somewhere toward the higher boost pressures that it can push efficienty, however somewhere around the middle from a airflow point of view. So getting any extra HP out of it will be a matter of making the whole system flow as well as possible, just as you'd do with a NA motor.

I hope you realise you might just not die. You might end up in a wheel chair for the end of your life, or worse, a vegetable that has to be hand fed for the rest of your life. Do you have family.... I hope not for their sake.
  23. Just wondering, what's out there in the way of aftermarket inlet manifolds for injected L series motors? For that matter, how well does the L28 manifold flow? Is it any good at higher power levels? The motor in question would have forced induction, aiming for around 450HP.

Richard (260DET) looked into this....not sure if he ever went ahead with it.
