Charcoal Canister Relocation
So if I understand correctly.... I can relocate the can under the chassis by the fuel pump IF the vapour tank is kept in place and the vacuum line is still connected to the throttle body. The can will "vent" under cruise and I can dump to atmosphere under the car. So I would need a vacuum line to the back of the car. Basically keep the hard line at the firewall to go back to the can....

Charcoal Canister Relocation
I agree. It would just be a "nice" thing to have changed. In the end it will probably remain in the quarter panel. New cars don't have them though ... do they??? Not to keen on having a vacuum line run the length of the car though too....

I talked to my welder (Mat Tech) at work today and he mentioned it was a gas issue too. I just changed the tank about two weeks ago and it was fine at that time. It might be a nozzle flow issue even though I have lots of gas in the tank and it sounds like good flow.... I will look into it more for sure as this is a new issue.

Charcoal Canister Relocation
Gotcha. It will have the original throttle body as I don't have plans to install the Megasquirt etc in the car and need to keep engine performance within factory spec. If there was a way to lose the evap canister in the rear quarter along with moving the charcoal can to the undercarriage, that would be a great solution! Room for a speaker on the passenger side and no more can in the engine compartment. The reason this is important to me at this point of the build is, I want to remove the mounting point in the engine bay before paint and bodywork.....

Charcoal Canister Relocation
As long as it is plumbed the same as the stock can, I thought it would work the same. The can posted above seems to be actuated the same as the stock can... Bottom line is I want it gone from the front of the engine bay so I can clean up the fuel lines. Venting the gas tank evap line to the filler neck will allow the tank to fill properly but not vent when capped. A relocated evap can down by the fuel pump seems to be another possible solution. Close off the engine side of the evap and vent the tank under the car. Yes, I will be losing some gas vapour that won't be going through the intake but I'm not going to lose sleep over that. Thoughts?

Charcoal Canister Relocation
I am thinking of relocating a smaller canister (from a Sentra maybe) up to the firewall. I will have a fuel return line after the FPR so that's not a problem...

I hope you have a build thread because I see a lot of automotive gold in that picture!

Charcoal Canister Relocation
Another interesting issue is you have your fpr BEFORE your fuel rail.... most people have it mounted directly after the rail to set rail pressure.

Charcoal Canister Relocation
@Mike W That is interesting. No fuel tank pressure issues or smell? What model Z do you have? Sorry if it's in your signature as I'm on Tapatalk that doesn't show sigs.

I also don't want any problems associated with removing it unless they can be counteracted.

Charcoal Canister Relocation
Just want to move it away from the passenger side front of the engine compartment to avoid fuel lines all over the place. I wanted to have the fuel lines come up the firewall and back down along with the filter etc to avoid extra lines everywhere. I specifically didn't want a fuel line in front of the engine.

Hmmm. No one has any input? I thought this would have been done by someone already...

Excellent point. I saw what you did and I think it will be same for me. I will probably paint the engine bay, interior and under body while on the rotisserie. Then mount all the under car lines and and running gear/suspension. Once it's on the ground and it's own wheels, I can work on the outer body work and final paint. I hope to have the metal work done soon. I keep finding more things to fix and repair but that will only last so long too. I have to order the coilovers soon so I can open up the strut towers to access the camber adjustment screws. I also have to deal with the bumper shock mounts which are still bolted to the car and holding it to the rotisserie. Might have to touch those areas up last after the car hits the ground. Or not. Not sure yet!

Charcoal Canister Relocation
I am wondering if anyone has successfully relocated the Charcoal Canister from the engine bay to a less obvious location. Either that or an effective delete process without negative side effects... The photo above shows the Canister beside the fuel filter. I would like to move the fuel line and filter to the firewall along with the fuel pressure regulator. I don't want the negative effects of a delete that gives off a fuel smell either. Or fuel lines running all around the engine bay. Hmmmm. Thoughts?
