1976 280Z Restoration Project
Actually quite boring. Hardened steel angle iron. 3/8" x 3 1/2" cut down to 2 3/8" so the 2 5/8" channel will fit over it easily. A piece of flat stock 5/16" plate welded under it for height clearance and clamping area in the vice.... pretty simple. The red corrosion paint is marked with an identifying number for the metal stock. No armour from a tank if that's what you were hoping for !

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
Found this... Running on coffee....

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
I can't believe I got it to run either. I have a video somewhere in my blog with it running. Blew my mind when I drained the tank.

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
Unfortunately my brake and clutch fluid suffered from severe incontinence. No idea how dirty they were before they ate my floor...

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
It was sitting for about 15 years like that. And then I started it and it ran normal... ON THAT GAS!!! I thought the tank was empty because the gauge was on empty. Of course it was corroded solid. The tank was 7/8th full of that cappuccino cocktail.

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
It does resemble my coffee...!

Is your brake fluid this dirty?
Don't know if you can get it in the states anymore, but I alternate with super blue brake fluid when I do a flush. Gives me a visual indicator of when the lines are clean with new fluid!

I was thinking about freshening up the suspension!
Thanks... it could not have been done without all the support of this forum and its members. Still lots to go!

Charcoal Canister Relocation
It looks like the tank venting is completely different on the ZX. Mainly because it is a top mounted sending unit I believe.

Grab the 15/16" master cylinder too! Not 100% sure but it might have some nice CV's on it too...

Silver Mine Electric PS kit
I have spoken to them about this kit too. I will be ordering one for my build.

Can You Adjust the scale on the Fuel Gauge?
Before and after soaking in CLR. I will check the adjustment screw but I was getting a pretty good reading on the ohmmeter when I cleaned it last fall.

Charcoal Canister Relocation
What about earlier S30 models? The S130 has the fuel sending unit on top with the vent, the 280 has it on the side like the 240. I am curious to see how Eurodat's 260 manual plumbs the system.
-
Charcoal Canister Relocation
@Eurodat is looking into a 260Z FSM from Europe to see if he has the drawings to support elimination of the can and tank...!
-
Charcoal Canister Relocation
Do you have a FSM for the euro 280? It would be interesting to see how they handled the fuel venting.

Charcoal Canister Relocation
Not really I suppose because there is already a hard line there that was going from the vapour can to the charcoal can. I will just route the hard line farther up the firewall to a place where I can run vacuum to the throttle body.
