  3. HANG ON TO BOTH OF THEM!!! The 260Z 4sp had a slightly lower 1st and 2nd gear to overcome the extra weight of the car (desirable tranny for auto-x) and the intake manifold design was tweaked to improve the path of the intake charge to cyl 3 and 4...also desirable for Auto-X....market them as such and sell away if you wish.
  4. I will second Arne's opinion to a degree. I prefer the Cibie' over the Hella but I tend to spend more time on High beam then low. However, with price a consideration...go with the Hellas...Cibie's will run upward of $90 a piece with no H-4 bulb and not including shipping...FROM ENGLAND.
  5. Dave, Alex was 4 at that MSA show. The plan is to start a resto/build when he is 12 and his younger brother is 10. I will offer to them the same deal my father offered me...I will provide a car for the two of them to share in high school.
  6. After 12 years of ownership, countless hours, days and years of blood, and sweat, I sold my 240Z. It was not an easy decision, and one that has disturbed the nature of the force. Friends from far and wide...some on this site, and on others, think I am crazy....my kids want to dis-own me....my wife is worried I will just find another basket case project. I just felt I needed to step back a bit, and re-evaluate where I was going with my life and my cars. I am not ready, nor do I think I ever will be, for a trailer queen track car, and that is where the Z was heading. I had tweaked the susp and the engine to the point that it was almost a labor just to drive it on the street. I had not truly enjoyed driving her daily since I lived in Italy and could open her up any time I wanted. The paint was too beautiful....the interior too clean....the susp too tight....the engine too beastly, for an every day driver, and man how I loved to drive her. She has gone to a good home, and i may have visitation rights when it is all said and done. She now resides on the showroom floor of Briggs Nissan in Manhattan, KS...the dealership owner is the proud owner of his "new" race car. My wife says the kids went nuts when they saw it there the other day while getting the X-Terra serviced. I have a feeling that after this deployment, I will be contracted (of sorts) to sort it out for the Auto-X season. Now, After 24 years of Datsun ownership, I could not just walk away clean could I? I mean, I have a wealth of knowlege and experience to share. Laughs, Pains, and Joys. I have made great friends and travelled the country to show and race her. I have learned from my experiences and from others what makes these cars tick, and how to keep em going and if desired, improve them. There are those of you (you know who you are) who seem to think I may be the last "true" shade tree Weber tuner for these cars...and I hope to continue to share that knowlege with all of you who need and/or want it. Besides...I need to keep my mind sharp for the father son 240Z build planned for 2016...so keep your eyes out for that basket case project...I might be interested. In the mean time, I guess I will have to just enjoy my 944T.

  9. It is a very beautiful car, and I have seen / inspected it several times, however, it is a 73 and an Automatic and not 100% original. In my personal opinion....it should fetch 15k at best.
  10. Point of note on the dash. The blanked hole above the hazard switch was for dealer / aftermarket fog or driving lights. They even had a factory switch for it, though the only one I have ever seen was on my dad's car and was installed in England. 70 and early 71 cars are all pre-wired for foglights, from the dash to the front of the car...check your wiring diagrams and then check your cars...its all there, right down to the 9.5mm holes (3/8in) in the bumper.

  13. Beth, Great photos, cannot wait to see the rest of them. It was great to catch up a little on old times. Give Dan, Fred, and Mike my best, oh and Alex was so upset that he did not get to come.
  14. Once again, a great show, and lots of beautiful cars. Took home 1st in Race Prep, but feel it is a little tainted since I was the only one entered. There were a few other cars that should have been in race prep...like the wide body 240 drag car that was entered and won modified. All in all a great weekend with great friends.

  18. Up until...oh exactly Sep 2002, you could buy the header from them directly...then they just stopped...even with all my begging, they refuse to make any more, howevr, Kirk Racing in Ala is producing a header very similar...may look to that route.
  19. WingZr0, What are the exterior dimensions of these tips. I am considering buying up some NEW ANSA tips in order to replicate this setup, but designed with the 2.5-3.0 in exhaust crowd in mind. Specifically, the length. Thanks,
  20. Very unusual to bring up such an old subject, but I was just informed thru the West Coast Z Racer Group that Mike has passed on and the car is now for sale.
  21. WOW, I am not the only one. I remember when my dad brought home his "new" 1971 Z in 1973. I remember the drive from Mather AFB in Sactown to Eglin AFB in Ft Walton Beach, FL. I remember the work the guys at Janspeed in England did on the car when we lived there in 75. And i will never forget the first time i stalled that high revving, high flowing, weber fed 2.4l beast when i was learning to drive in 85. I will also never forget or forgive my step sister and her trashy boyfriend for destroying that car. I have owned many cars since then but my pride and joy, and the best wedding gift a husband could get from his wife, sits in the garage and has begun to teach a new generation (Alex is 4 now) about webers and cams and such. With alot of work, care and love, another generation may learn to drive in the car that forced Porsche to go Turbo. Oh and I took Alex to MSA this year...wow is all he could say.
  22. Alex and I had an awesome time. It was great meeting some of you, only regret not taking more pictures, but making sure Alex had as much fun as I did precluded that. I will get pictures uploaded soon.

  24. I will be there with my four year old in tow. We will be attending the BBQ, The Car Wash, The Dinner and of course the show. My car is entered as Race Prepped. I may have a Tidewater Z shirt, or a ZDAYZ shirt on, dont know yet, either way..I will be the one with very little hair (high n tight), and a very excited 4 y/o boy with me. Quite a few folks from Sin City Z www.sincityz.org will be attending.
