This will probably answer your question. Here's Ted healing up an infected paw, the black one is Spike, still a kitten. Koalia, here is a link to Wolf Racing, they have some good images of linkages, Customer Gallery - 6 Cylinder Carb Setups

What manifold are you using? If you haven't bought one yet I would go with the shortest you can find only because by the time you have horns on or air filters there is very little room left between the carbs and the shock tower/Master cylinder.
  4. This is the link to more pics from that day, over the next few days people will be adding more, 2013 Z-Fest Photos
  5. Ontario Z Car Club had its 20th Anniversary Z Fest today, I don't know the numbers but it was a big show. These are a few of the nice Zs that were around me, I had to stop taking pics a certain point because there were just too many people around the cars.

Very interesting, while my Z was up at my buddies place for paint a few months ago his son (about 24yrs old) kept going on about how I should use Rustoleum because their choice of colours apparently has opened up and he was going on about his friend who painted his car following a website and the his results were very impressive. I shrugged him off at the time but maybe I shouldn't have. I know first hand that as long as you have adequate depth of paint and free labour then colour sanding can bring out show quality results. My only reservation would be the lifespan of the paint and would it take a clear coat. Marine paint has certainly proved its self. For me this is worth a 2nd look as the paint that was just sprayed in the spring is proving to be soft and I'm seeing the flaws in my prep work. Chris
  7. 32, ... simulated. "How many combat drops?" 2 including this one.
  8. Bart, Lokar cable. Smooth and simple,

Blue and all, thanks. Lots to digest. Our local Zfest is next weekend so I don't want to screw around with it too much as the car is running fairly well at the moment. After Zfest I'm going to switch back to the SK triples that came with the engine to see if there is a power gain to be had. Blue, I'll take you up on your offer, I'm pretty sure I have the triples set up correctly but will probably need help. If the triples prove to be too finicky for me I'll be heading back to the SU's. Chris

I'm using the Stop Tech pads from Centric on the front and similar shoes on the back, with SS braided lines I can stop on a dime. The original braking system was very well thought out. Anyway, just thought there might be some tricks I hadn't heard of. Thanks, Chris

Just got my Synchrometer/SK and took it out to see what the balance was like on my still shiny ZTherapy SU's, Well the lowest I can get the idle down to without stumbling/stalling is about 900rpm. At that idle the SK reading is up in the 18-19 kg/h scale, so no accuracy and almost impossible to see. Should I have bought the BK model with the air bypass? What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Chris

This is my second set of front pads, this set promised better stopping and less dust but there is just as much dust as the other pads and maybe more. There seems to be very little selection of pads for stock discs so I'm wondering about other ways to keep the brake dust off of the wheels. Waxes, dust shields, etc. Anyone have any tricks they want to share? Normally I wouldn't care so much but after a one hour drive the front wheels look terrible compared to the rest of the clean car. Thanks, Chris

The breather/overflow hose is about 4" long and just clears the carb body so if there is an over flow it spills onto the heat shield. I guess those hoses could be longer like on a bike.
  14. Jim, my 03/70 is identical to your lay out with the exception of the large dia. hard line that ends just below the ignition coil. What is it for by the way? Chris

Here is the choke cable, and this is the throttle linkage
  16. grannyknot posted a post in a topic in Carburetor Central
The throttle linkage looks stock from OER but the fuel enrichment (choke) cable is a generic motorcycle type brake or clutch cable. I'll post some close up pics soon but my computer got some virus last night and self destructed, got to see if I can save any files. Chris

Koalia, I think you mean the overflow/breather tube. I have the SK/OER Technical Manual published in 1988, Can't seem to load anymore, I'll try and put the rest up tomorrow.

They appear to be identical to mt SK/OER triples except mine don't have the raised letters on the jet cover. Mine were made just after OER bought the company from SK and they were made in Japan also. Any chance you could take a close up pic of the stamped letters on the top? Thanks, Chris

When your fiance is in car drive nicely, you say you know sports cars then you are going to love the Z.
  23. Don, I have an L28 engine in my 70/240z but I'm using the 240 distributor and the Pertronix module. The only combo I found to work was to take the G/W and B/W wire that had the ballast resistor between them and connect them together, then the long B/W wire from the tach goes to the Pos side of coil (just the way you have it now) Then red wire from Pertronix module goes to Pos side of coil as well and black wire from Pertronixs module goes to Neg side of coil. Very important that the coil is a 3.0 ohm unit not the 1.5 ohm unit needed for the ballast resistor. Give that a try.

Burl, I should have given better directions to the article that AX-240z mentioned, go to the Z Car Home Page then to Index of Tech Articles, then Engine, then Cooling Systems, 280ZX cooling system problems. J.R.Demers has done most of the grunt work in producing this chart at the top of this post. It is an excellent article and well worth the read but the quick way is just remove the wire going to the temp sensor and measure the ohms from the temp sensor to grnd when the engine is hot and turned off. I did it today after a good run and came up with 27.6 ohms which confirms my IR readings putting me at 195-198* F Chris

I think this is the article that AZ-240z was refering to, the Z Car Home Page the overheating article in the tech library.
