  1. Here's something you might find useful. I think they're synthetic though but a good read when you have time.
  2. Try pinching the fuel hose before the metal fuel filter by the charcoal cannister on the passenger's side. It should be as hard as a rock on the bottom hose going into the filter and just as stiff up top coming out of the filter. Easy way to check that filter. I had a clogged up filter and it would run for a few minutes then after the sediment fell back down it would run again but only for a few minutes. Good luck finding your gremlin.
  3. Mine is a Jefferson county, Birmingham plate, and I'm in Etowah County. They do it by population for the 1st. 2nd 3rd or 4th counties are 1,2,3 and 4 then it goes to alphabetic. So mine is #1 Jefferson county but I live in #31 county. Our only requirement is an original tag made by a prisoner in between rapes.
  4. You must keep a current tag in the car? That's kind of silly if you ask me, redundant. Georgia has some high DMV taxes, all those roads...sheesh! The tags are 5 years right? after inspection? Sweet hell Alabama.
  5. Does Georgia have "year of make" tag option? I've got an original from 1972 tag on my 240. Traded Dr Tag front and rear Texas plates from 1965 for a pristine 1972 Alabama plate.
  6. That orange is a peach, it's a state symbol maybe even the state fruit although Governor Kemp is pretty fruity.
  7. @Broman This is from Humble's restore book. Ditzler Duracryl DDL 2862 Argent with quite a bit of suede additive 1 pint DDL 200 units DX265 300 units DX 264 Thin 100-150% and spray fairly dry Regulate air pressure to the high side https://www.xenonzcar.com/s30/hubcaprefinishing.html Towards the end you'll see a hyper link about the paint as "recipe"

  9. 5 weeks since surgery and it's still pretty sore. Really depends on what I do. Therapy one day, rest the next and then back for more. I'm doing a lot at home with a recumbent bike and weight bench with a leg lift I bought years ago to hang clothes on. Now they're my nemeses just like the upstairs garage apartment I've loved for so many years. The doctors say I'm halfway, 12 weeks is their recommendation for release but say it could take up to a year to feel like it never happened. Haven't taken a pain pill in 2 weeks, not saying I wouldn't take one the size of a Frisbee right this minute but the OTC Aleve plus herb(s) are working great. Happy New Year Mark and Kathy!
  10. Trickle charging batteries for New Years Day driving. Need to burn 2024 fuel. It's going to be a lot of driving close to home.
  11. Look at this. If the button isn't being pushed in enough you could use small flat washers on the back side of the hold down screws, "stacking" to make up the needed space. It's not easy to do and you could break things that are expensive. The electric cleaner would not hurt but I don't think it will fix your problem. Good luck! https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/datsun-240z-series-2-choke-lever-switch-nos?srsltid=AfmBOoonlV4vSHqd1ekQnh3Qs3rjXDit_l_c3hA_4Jn0dlFKCKikVCQ0

EDIT: 60 grit sandpaper is too rough for anything on your Z. That's what painters call "floor paper". It's for sanding hardwood floors. Here's the best I've seen with paint you can buy at a chain store. Many thanks @CanTechZ

I made mine out of an old paint roller frame. Cut about a foot out, ground down one end to fit in the spindle gear and let it rip. Don't use the drill's HIGH setting without a cover on there.
  14. Tap and larger bolt or uni-coil might save it. You shouldn't have any problem getting one from someone on here if you need another one. Let us know, I've got a few somewhere. I can see them in a coffee can in my mind but...

I feel like the parts weren't exact like a cheap floor pan so they just beat it into place with a big hammer. Fortunately that soreness is just about all gone and I actually have medication left. Who'dve thought!

I just wanted to let my friends know that I've been under the "weather" for over a year now with my clutch leg (LHD). I had a knee replacement 10 days ago and walked on my own after 1 week. I didn't get the robotic arm installation just the old fashioned human arm job. Very happy with the prospect of being young enough and pain free to maybe work on another Z sometime in the future. I'm keeping them cranked up and fluids flowing monthly but unable to drive. Soon enough my doctor says.
  18. There's a member map on this forum that shows people close to you. I know we have 2 Jims in Arkansas that live and breathe these cars. I'm on my phone and not much help at the moment but can find them tomorrow morning and tag them, maybe they'll respond? Haven't seen any post from them recently though but there still around lurking like Bigfoot. I did what I think is the best way to get a good dependable car. Set a budget and rebuild/replace all you can. Cost me around $5,000 for my '72 but I did a lot of the work myself. I wouldn't be affraid to drive it across the country. Edit: Steve tagged the guys I am speaking of.
  19. You can run a gauge to your windshield wiper under a partially closed hood. Zip-tie the hose and gauge to the wiper and go for a ride.
  20. I got some deals on black Friday years ago from futofab.com Happy Thanksgiving!
  21. It's this little plastic switch with a small button that moves in and out in relation to your choke handle arm. All the way foward shouldn't have any contact with the button, therefore turning the light off. Make damn sure there's no contact with the handle and the little button when it's pushed foward (no choke) and you should be good.
  22. Here's something I found real quick. Should have the numbers. Here's a Google search with alot of threads pertaining to the rubber seal... https://www.google.com/search?q=speedometer+connections+on+transmission+dripping+oil+siteunseen+classiczcars.com&client=ms-android-americamovil-us-revc&sca_esv=2c272caab9e83ec0&ei=ikoxZ6L7FeP9ptQPidvc2A8&oq=speedometer+connections+on+transmission+dripping+oil+siteunseen+classiczcars.com&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIlBzcGVlZG9tZXRlciBjb25uZWN0aW9ucyBvbiB0cmFuc21pc3Npb24gZHJpcHBpbmcgb2lsIHNpdGV1bnNlZW4gY2xhc3NpY3pjYXJzLmNvbUiU6AFQiYQBWKXaAXAAeACQAQCYAccBoAGfEKoBBDAuMTS4AQPIAQD4AQGYAgCgAgCYAwCIBgGSBwCgB_YE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp Hopefully this will help??
  23. I had to grind off some of shifter to get it to stay in gear
  24. Are you setting the float valves with the lids upside down like the "Just SUs" dvd or right side up and float hanging?
