Just Another Damned Z Car Project Thread
I have a picture of a girl called Flower and it's NOT because of her sweet smell. The complete opposite actually. Happy birthday!

Dumb but genuine question
The pull cord releases the latch that locks the hood down. Normally done with the t handle in the cab from what I understand. My '72 has been replaced already by the PO.

Solar eclipse super hyped
I'm anxious to get and see some photos of our cars during this super hyped eclipse. We had one in 2017 and although I took some cool pictures of light shining through the tree leaves, they looked liked stars all over my yard but wow for 5 minutes. Here's the closest picture I have of what this "purkinje" is supposed to be.

Dumb but genuine question
So I could do this and pull the cord from underneath, right? That's a great idea. I've broken one when I was younger and it was an ordeal from what I remember. Thanks Chris.

If zcardepot doesn't have stock check futofab.com. that's where mine came from. From what I've read they're from the same supplier? Mine had VIETNAM on the boxes. Very happy with them too, OE bumpers are in storage for the next babysitter.- Dave W 1971/240Z rebuild
My '72 has those wires going over the top of the holes which brings it about 2 inches farther away from the road, there's a pretty wide gap between the chin spoiler and the front clip. The curiosity was killing me! Did you have enough grommets for the rear panel the fuel vents go through to the emissions tank?- Dave W 1971/240Z rebuild
Alcatraz Swimming Team I sure do like my #918. It's like the #110 I had for awhile, the lighting is the main determination, red, orange?- Speedometer needle bounces over bumps
You could also check were the cable attaches to the transmission.- Rear Brake help! Metal on Metal Grinding Noise
You should see fresh scratch marks somewhere if it's making that sort of sound. I went from aluminum to steel with no issues that I remember I've always put the shoes in the adjusters slots, put the spring on then press them flat against hubs. Then put those pins in.- I got a new neighbor half way down the block… what is this?

So instead of guns I can run leaf blowers, weedeaters and chainsaws to the west without much penalty. I can stay with you when I do a run? ❤- Sudden Running Lean Issue
If they're stock like injectors you should consider using the clips. They have held mine in place since I replaced those plugs in 2011. Bought from a popular Ebay guy that had Bosch rebuild kits.- [2024] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
They'll have to pry this new one from my cold, callous coverd dead hands.- [2024] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Used my 240 as a backdrop for a new toy I bought. A real brand new 2 cycle Stihl weedeater. No valves! Weighs half as much and revs to the sky. Very happy with new old technology.- [2024] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
My '77 has those door guards and dealer chrome mud flaps. Hate them! Looks like a clown car at the Christmas parade.- 78 280Z - Finally got it driving - High Idle, will occasionally die (but restart), sound like it has a misfire
Most folks just leave the valve cover gasket dry without any type sealant for the off and on you'll be pulling it, until you get it right then just once a year or so to check valve lash. I run those cover bolts down with an electric drill set to the lowest possible strength setting, that's always tight enough for mine. No leaks. Have you read about using ant-seize thread lube on everthing? It helps.- 78 280Z - Finally got it driving - High Idle, will occasionally die (but restart), sound like it has a misfire
I dropped and refurbished my 1st tank on the '77 I still have. Honestly it was a waste of time and a little money, the car didn't run any better. At the end of the very "long day" it was the coolant temp sensor resistance to the ECU. It could be your fuel pump? Now the '72 240Z I bought was a whole different story. That tank was like a porta-john's tank minus the big breath mints. This isn't rust, wouldn't stick to a magnet, just old fuel and sediment. The car sat for years with fuel in the tank, eventually turning to pretty much dirt.- 78 280Z - Finally got it driving - High Idle, will occasionally die (but restart), sound like it has a misfire

I would have bought 2 gallons of new fuel. Drain the tank fuel into a clear plastic tub and see how it looks. Mine looked like Sunkist when the tank was fuel of crud.- 78 280Z - Finally got it driving - High Idle, will occasionally die (but restart), sound like it has a misfire
Could be an air leak, those cause high idle from my experience. The throttle blade could be dirty, sticking open just a little. Check for cracks in the rubber accordion hose that connects the AFM to the throttle body. A lot of possibilities, AAR could be stuck open too. - Restoration of BringaTrailer 240z - HLS30-35883
