In the three early Z cars i had the shifter was loose. I just bought an new inexpensive inner shift boot and it felt a whole lot better. I am sure dastunrestore has one available. So do a whole lot of other companys. Congradulations on your Z!!! Z-ya.

Yes the boxier rear i belive you are referring to is the 280z rear. Fat bumpers. The 240 doesn't have this, though i have seen some people who put them on 240zs(Why?). I think it is tacky too but you gottta cover those bumpers with something, plus if you got ugly bumpers and don't wanna take them off then that rear airdam is the way to go. Matter of taste. I have removed mine and since under body section under the rear air dam is not the same color as the rest of the car I have to wait to take it off. I don't like the boxy look either so I will be running without bumpers or rear air dam. Plus those bumpers are heavy too.

I'll be on the look out, though one appeared in the paper a few weeks ago here in corpus christi, tx. I never checked on it, but I come across them sometimes. The 240z(70-73) and the first half of the 260zs(74) are the same body style wise.(Except the tail lights) The second half of the 260zs and the 280zs have fatter bumpers and are pretty much the same body style wise. As far as main body parts(glass, hood, doors, headlights, hatches ect.) they are all the interchangeable. (Of course those guys with early Zs got the cool hatch vents) I've owned a 240z and 280z and liked the 240z better, but the 280z is definitely a more comfortable daily driver. Of course my 240z wasn't as perfect as Victor Laurys 240z or anything.

  9. I was wondering the same thing, and then I saw this.... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=53962#post53962 It looks like a good tire size for ZG flares.

So 225/60/15 & no coil overs? Those tires fill those ZG flares pretty good. Maybe that is the size I need to start running when I buy some 15" rims.

Yesterday i was talking to a guy divivng a V6 F150 ford truck who put Supercrew enblems on his tailgate thinking that meant it had some V8 package and the truck was single cab!! Stupid. Now this... http://www.blert.net/ai/i/16.jpg
  16. I've had that but alot of valvetrain noise can result from going in to 6500 quite every so often.
  17. That is exactly what I thought. I guess he was just pulling my leg, or trying to sound smart in front of his girlfriend. I had to make sure since i am having a hard time locating a good complete L28et.

I found an engine at the junkyard. It was already out of the car. All the ECU and wiring are missing as well as the turbo. It has a P90 head and the guy says it is out of an 81 model. I have no way of knowing how it runs or how many miles it has on it. I don't know how long it has been sitting there either. Is there supposed to be a flywheel attached to it? It doesn't have one, but will my 78 280z stock flywheel fit. He wants $300, I wanted to do a rebuild anyway. Do you guys think that is fair? Do you guys have any tips to offer me while I asses the condition of the engine. Then I still have to buy an ECU and a Turbo and wiring, and who knows what else I'll need for the swap. Is it a smart move to make the purchase with a budget of 2grand? I'll still need to buy another turbo and rebuild. Plus I'm gonna put it in a 280z so I Need to be prepared for what surprised will pop up during that expedenture. I've really been looking for a running car but no luck.
  19. Rebello Racing wouldn't happen to build up L28ets would they?
  20. Upon disscussion of my planning to do an L28et swap... One of my local Z friends told me that a Z31 engine will just bolt into a 280z. I told him I've never heard that. I thought it would take motor mount mods, and not just "bolt in". Is this true?:cross-eye

Another thing I would consider a well running ZX turbo, again if the price is right. :classic:
