  1. Thanks all for the recommendations. I will make some calls:)
  2. Well my r180 differential is in need for some love. It's getting pretty noisy and feels like it has some play in it. Unfortunately the local transmission shops here in Great Falls aren't interested in working on it. Can any of you recommend a shop to send it to? Cheers, Scot
  3. Mine doesn't show full unless there is gas sitting in the filler neck. I can tell you at that level there is also gas sitting in the vent lines. I know because one of mine leaks

Used a Buffer Bit on an extra valve cover I had. Hot a Professional job, but it's better than what I had.
  6. My 11/71 has shoulder belts mounted there. Siteunseen, like yours mine just have the bolts no cover.
  7. Z fan you are right. It was interesting reading the comments during the auction because there are still people who feel the only collectable J car is the GT2000.
  8. So the Z on Bring a Trailer went for $5000. Considering the needs it has I would say that speaks well for value. In my opinion it's a little better representation of current value than a 432 at auction.
  9. Zed, I think you might have figured it out. I went out and looked everything over and I did have some oil leak out of my oil cap. I guess I didn't have it fully tightened down. Since there was no stutter, but it was down a little on oil. I will just keep an eye on it. I certainly hope ring and valves aren't the problem since they only have 40K miles on them. Thanks again everyone for the feed back. Cheers, Scot
  10. Steve, just watched your video. That looks like and awesome run!
  11. Thank you all for getting back to me on this. Steve, I will have to try the GoPro. Zed, My buddy was driving behind me and mentioned he saw "trace puffs from my exhaust pipe". We were over 90 for several minutes at a time. The engine was cruising not shifting.
  12. There's a 240z being auctioned on http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z/ . It looks pretty rough so I guess we'll see where it ends up.
  13. I've looked at the plugs recently and they all look good. It runs fine around town with no smoke, which is why I'm perplexed by the possible smoke at high speeds.
  14. I did have the windows open. Unfortunately, I had no Cigar or other recreational smoke so I'm left to believe it was the engine;)
  15. I took the z out for drive today with a buddy of mine. He mentioned that he saw some "puffs" of smoke between 90 and 100 mph. I revved it up to 4500 rpm in nuetral and there is no smoke. So Z car brain trust... any thoughts?
  16. Looks like it sold already. I would have needed to see it in person myself. The door tag was not factory (unless the early cars were done differently), and there was no picture of a dash tag.
  17. Pitts, sorry to hear about your troubles. If you need to sell the dash I would be interested.
  18. If you need help with anything let me know. I spend quite a bit of time working in Townsend during the summer. For the record... I'm pretty jealous of that dash you have.
  19. Welcome to the club. It's always nice to see another 240 in Big Sky Country:)
  20. gogriz91, one of the things I dream of is getting a bunch of Z enthusiast's together to drive Going to the Sun. How awesome would the parking lot up at Logan pass look filled with vintage Datsuns. Until that day it will just be me and a couple other 240's. Any time you find yourself out west feel free to hit me up though, first beer's on me
  21. Bartsscooter I read the post on your Z the other day... you've got a nice car there. The way I look at it is these cars are still less expensive than going out and buying a new car. They also come equipped with a lot more soul and history too
  22. Thanks to all of your help I made some progress. It still isn't right, but I'm guessing the body panels are bowed out like motivealloy suggested. The car was in a front end accident about 11 years ago and the body shop that performed the repair was not what I had hoped it would be. On top of that the left and right brackets were switched. Thanks again for all the help.
  23. siteunseen... ouch! I've got that part down. What's frustrating is that the ends of my bumper are extremely tight against the car. To the point of damaging the paint. I'll loosen everything up this week and hopefully get it adjusted correctly. Thanks to all of you for the feedback.
