I followed the install instructions, like most probably did, that came with my cap. Mine included the silicone to glue it down. If I'm able to remove it completely without destroying it I will re-install another way....maybe with 3m double sided tape or something. Oh well, live and learn.

I was thinking of using my thin feeler gauges with a little 3 in 1 oil, so I am on the right tract. Thanks Zed Head.

I installed a full face dash cover a few years back. Wish I knew then what I found out today. I was going to pull all the gauges and remove the white faces I put on them. I want them back to original. But I can't get the tach or speedo out. They are hitting the lip of the full face dash cover as I try pulling them out. There is about a 1" lip all around the inside of the opening keeping me from pulling them all the way out. Anyone else have this issue and have a solution besides removing the dash cover? It is glued down.

Nismo Silvia, it would be a good thing to list everything in the classifieds that way it will be first come, first served. Everyone will get a chance at what ever is available. I can't wait to see what you scored.

In your score, did you notice anything for the 280Z?
  6. If you get rid of interior parts let me know.
  7. The stock EFI is a good STOCK EFI system. As long as it works correctly. Had contemplated removing my stock efi a couple years ago. But with the help of this forum and the FSM I made some, a lot actually, repairs and she runs as she did new. Like a stock system should. Good performance and fuel economy as far as I'm concerned. Easy to work on, now. And I'm smog legal here in CA. So I now like the stock EFI.
  8. I to have good luck with z-connexion from ebay
  9. Okay so I called MSA and they gave me Mike's Z shop in Whittier, anyone agree/disagree? Not that I disagree with MSA, I just want verification from someone. Homeboyx, sometimes you get what you pay for. I don't mind paying the price if it is right.

If you live in Southern CA where do you take your Z for service, if you do? Looking for someone that specializes in Z cars.
  11. I ran 87 in my 72 years ago. I also run 87 in my 77 280 with timing set 16 BTDC and no pinging.
  12. Or if anyone has another recommendation......

I still cannot believe, every time I look at it, they were able to bring it back! As Mikes z car said "It's encouraging.

I can't wait to see it finished! Going to look sweet I'm sure.
  15. Hey everyone, I am looking for a new shop to take my 77 280 to. The one I used to go to is no longer around. I usually do everything myself. But there is a rare occasion when I have someone else do the work for me. Especially when it comes to pulling the tranny and repairing it which it needs now. I will not take it to Nissan. I here Mike's Z Shop in Whittier might be the place. Anyone ever go there? Good or bad experience? Thanks for the help. Bob

    please do.
  17. If I had the money I would buy it. And then sell off all the stuff that comes with it like the 2.8, webers, etc. Of course after a thorough inspection myself. She looks nice a straight.
  18. That's the way I do it also...staged restoration is what you are doing. Great work! Keep going and keep posting pics.

Merry Christmas to all. Hope everyone is enjoying it. Weather is great here in Southern CA today. Rain in the forecast though.
  20. Those look really nice. Very nice looking 240!
  21. Have you tried unplugging the BCDD to see if it stops?
  22. Not to mention if it is a CA. car you will not pass smog, at least the visual inspection.
  23. Hey J do yourself a favor and buy those injectors that Fastwomen and siteunseen mentioned. IMHO. After chasing a lean condition I finally bought those injectors and after I installed them every little problem I was having went away. I have 277,000 miles on my 77 and she now purrs! It's a joy once again. I had my old injectors serviced and it changed nothing sending me in the wrong direction during my diagnostics. A mechanic friend of mine said "trust me and replace them" so I did and am glad I did!

Yeah looks really good. I know some people would say that you should have kept the original bumpers on her because now she looks like a 240 instead of a 280 but, you wont hear that from me!! I love the 240 bumpers! They hug the Z car body. I did the same with my 77 280. Enjoy, great job!
