A horrible weekend for me
Hey grantman... how are things going now? I thought maybe I'd follow up a few months later. [m]

What's the best fuel injector ?
Where can I get reinforced rubber hose for the fuel lines like this? Should the local auto parts store have it? I would imagine some kind of braided (internal) hose is best. You're right, the hose connecting the fuel rails together was bulging and weak.

What's the best fuel injector ?
Last night I changed out the fuel pump on my '75 280z. I pulled off the hose from the fuel filter to make sure it was pumping fuel. Yep, it works. Now, I re-connected everything and tried to start the car. It caught a few times... but, it died immediately. After a few shots at this and many minutes of cranking.. I gave up. However, I noticed that a few of my fuel hoses were bulging and one of them was even split. It was shooting a fine mist of fuel!!! Anyway, there's something obviously wrong here. The system is plugged and I don't know if this is a sign of bad injectors or not. I took all of the injectors out of the car and I will be replacing them. So, my questions are: 1) Should I look for anything else causing a plug-up in my system? I already replaced the fuel pump because it was bad (car was sitting for over 15 years). 2) What's the best fuel injector to buy for the Z ? Thanks!! -- Mike

What can I remove from an EFI system?
Awesome, thanks! I also found a few images from the MSA show. A few of the picts I have show the stock intake manifold. Seems like a lot of people remove this stuff.

What can I remove from an EFI system?
Hi all, I'm currently working on my '75 280z with an EFI system. I want to remove all of the unnecessary emission crap. I've seen some pretty nice Z's out there with a very basic system in place. If I don't need it... I want it off. It's ok to remove the emission control systems in Oregon because we don't have to pass a smog check. If you could post pictures of a decent system or at least post some ideas about where I can start looking. Thanks in advance! [m]

Whatcha got planned for Mother's Day?
Hey Dazza, you got a digital camera? Take a few pictures and upload them to our picture gallery. I'd love to see some pictures of the event down there!! As far as moms day... We don't have kids, so, I don't have to get anything for my wife. However, my mom and mom-in-law are in town and I need to do something today. Moms are usually pretty easy.. flowers, cards, house decorations (kitchen stuff), or the best presents for moms are hand-made.

Doesn't pull thru entire rpm range
Sounds like a mechanical advance problem to me... but, I figured that would kick in at a lower rpm than 4500. Have you rebuilt your distributor? Be careful when you do... there are springs inside that can shoot.

Having fun with the new Z1
Here's a good site explaining how shocks/suspension works: http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/suspension/components.html

Having fun with the new Z1
Hey guys... The strut is used to describe the entire package. A Z strut contains a hollow tube and a base. Inside the hollow tube you install a strut cartridge (or shock). This is usually filled with gas or oil and dampens the ride. Your spring fits on the outside of this whole unit and a cap is placed on top and bolted together. Most of the time, you are only required to replace the cartridge and the springs. Or, one or the other. I always recommend replacing both because it is such a pain to remove and reinstall new parts later. But, most of the time the strut assembly is just fine and doesn't need to be replaced. [m]

Rumour about Mike...
Ahh yes, the Ducati. I would love to own one. I almost purchased a SuperSport (cheaper), but, decided to get the Hayabusa because it is so unique. I only like to buy things that have character and speak to me in some way. I know that sounds bizarre. But, I just can't justify anything that has no character. I love the Ducati's because they sound so wonderful. But, good choice on the Z. You can get your Duc in a few years.

Rumour about Mike...
There's not much time to do anything at 150+ mph. You know 2mZ, I get the feeling you want me to live. Don't worry, I'm not to the point where I'll go crazy yet. I don't go 150 that often. And, besides... the drivers up here in Oregon are much different than the CA or even southern drivers for that matter. The roads are usually clear and everyone drives slow. I don't think anyone should own a race bike until they hit age 30. Too much craziness before that age. Well, at least for me. Anyway, maybe this 300ZX TT will make me want to sell my Hayabusa. I just love to ride too much. There's nothing like the open air, shifting gears, and the power between your legs. Oh wait... I guess I'm used to it even w/out the bike!! (get it... all that power between... forget it) (looking around for applause)
