  1. Buy the CD! I'm tellin' ya... you can find out this stuff just by looking at the diagrams and part numbers. I'm not trying to sell it... I just think everybody with a classic Z should have this resource. If you can't afford it, let me know and I'll figure out how you can do other things around the site to 'earn' one. Wash dishes? [m]

Is there such a thing as a METAL choke knob? I'm sure something like this might be a good business opportunity. If only we could find someone with a CNC router or some kind of metal fab shop. Anyone know someone like this?
  3. Hmm... good question. Have you considered just removing the bumpers and trying them out for a test fit? It might be your best option. I think there are either 2 or 3 bolts per side (2 sides total). So, you're only looking at up to 6 bolts. I think the bumpers on some of the later 260z's (or maybe it's 280z's) had the 5-mph bumpers with the shock absorbers. Do you have a copy of the Zcar Microfiche CD? You could look up the diagrams yourself.

Actually, I've seen these choke knobs for sale at Motorsport Auto. Has anyone ordered them? Are they OEM? I think I still have the scar on my right hand from slipping off that damn choke handle so many times.
  5. Racer, do you have a larger image you can upload to our galleries? I want to see this bad boy up close!!
  6. TOKYO, April 10 (Reuters) - Japan's third-largest automaker, Nissan Motor Co Ltd, said on Wednesday it expected record profits in the current fiscal year that began on April 1. "Even though (fiscal) 2001 will be a record year, 2002 will be even better," Nissan President Carlos Ghosn told reporters. Nissan, 44.4 percent owned by France's Renault SA (RENA), has said it will post record net, recurring, and operating profits in the year ended March 31. Ghosn did not specify which type of profit he was referring to for 2002/03. The optimistic outlook is partly based on the fact Nissan has a much larger pipeline of new products for the present year. Ghosn made the comments after the unveiling of the "Moco", a minivehicle produced by Japan's leading minicar maker Suzuki Motor Corp (7269) for sale under the Nissan badge.

My buddy had a Z shipped from Pensacola, FL to Corvallis, OR and it cost him roughly $1,000. It would have been a little cheaper if the car was running. But, they had to push it up on the truck.

  16. The ongoing recovery at Nissan has been recognised by hard-nosed investors to the effect that shares in the company hit a 6-year high on Tokyo's Nikkei. The shares have now doubled in value since the merger with Renault, and indication of how far they had fallen before Carlos Ghosn launched his rescue plan. Nissan recently said that the company was a year ahead of its planned recovery programme, and news that the all-new March (Micra in some markets) has received 25,000 domestic orders in the first week has added to the euphoria, although a modicum of caution must always be applied to orders in the first few weeks, as many could be dealer driven. Nevertheless, the aura around Nissan is a totally different colour from the black mood that surrounded the company just three years ago.

2mZ, if that happened to me... I don't think I would care if my airdam was urethane or fibreglass. Just my opinion.
  18. In fact, there's got to be a way that anyone attending a show (of any kind) can show their support for the club. Hmmm..... (brain is churning)
  19. It's in Orange, California. http://www.zcarparts.com/shows.htm#Info
  20. The Motorsport Auto show is coming in May. Anyone going to it? I'm thinking about it, but, not sure what will happen with my work. I'm supposed to make a trip to Australia sometime before June. But, not quite sure when that will be yet. I'd love to go to the show and promote the club!! If any of you are going to show off your Z, I'd love to talk with you about possibly promoting the Internet 240z Club somehow.... [m]

Guy-geo, I really like this airdam. Is it yours? Give me a few details. What was it like to install it and where did you buy it?
  23. Mike posted a post in a topic in Body & Paint
Dan, I had no idea MSA had that airdam. Right on... Did you take any pictures of your installation? I'd love to see them. From what I can tell on the pict (front of the site), it looks like that airdam is installed w/out a bumper? Is that true? Or, does it fit over the bumper? The MSA airdam doesn't have any holes for turn signals, eh? How about the quality of workmanship? Good, bad? I've seen good and bad things come from MSA. I sure wish they would review the products themselves before selling them. Oh, and if you don't mind... can you create a review of that airdam and post it to our reviews area? Hint: Create it using a web page editor first, and then paste the code into the field.

Congrats on the car!! As far as the levers.. If they are in the stock position (just below the shifter) then you'll probably want to take a closer look at the installation. There should be ONE choke lever that controls both carbs at the same time. Controlling each carb separately isn't necessary. The second lever was used as a type of 'cruise' control in the '70's... it was a throttle lock. Let's say you get up to 65mph.. If your foot was tired and you didn't want to push on the pedal anymore... you could pull that lever and it would increase the RPM's. This wasn't the safest solution. I came across this info when I purchased a new choke lever system for my '71. The new one came with two levers and 3 cables. Two cables were attached to a single (choke) lever and the other cable just terminated in the engine compartment. I have no idea how to connect the throttle lock.
