Guys, I've asked Carl Beck to jump in on this one. I just sent him the link to this post and it's got me curious as well. It's ok to be wary of these things, but, also remember that a dash can be replaced as well. The numbers that matter are probably on the frame.

The straps on the bottom of your seat might need to be replaced if they are stretched and old. This will give your seat less of a bucket feel and raise you up a bit. You can get the kits just about anywhere. The one that comes to mind is sold by datsunrestore.com.
  3. The gallery images (new ones) are updated every time someone sends in a new image. That block shows us the latest 6 that have been uploaded/approved.

Upload this to our gallery. It will be added to your own album and stored in our database. The link will work, but, if you change servers in a few years.... we won't be able to see it! [m]

Not sure if I'm leaving the USA. I don't even know if Australia will let me in. I need to make some decisions about stuff. Nonetheless, they shut down our local office and I now have a choice to make. Move or get a new job. Steve, I'll still tell ya you need a new bumper no matter which country I live. :cheeky:

Depends on the arrangement. Restoring a Z in AUS will cost me twice as much. Then again, storing it would raise the price of my restoration (paying for storage).

Thanks for the link. Looks like VIC is more slack about this. You can register and drive it normally if the car is greater than 30 years old.

The vinyl top is actually in your microfiche. Take a look somewhere in the end of the package. I've never seen one of these. Was this a stock item?

Where are the engines located? Does someone have to pay shipping or what's the rest of the deal?

Considering that it's 2:30am and I can't sleep... I figured all of you could benefit from some of my late-night recipes. And, feel free to add your own if you wish. These are best eaten when you're half asleep. But, they are GOOOOOOD!! Pickles-N-Peanut Butter - Pull out a jar of mini-mini-mini-dill-pickles (crunchier the better). - Pull our a jar of creamy peanut butter. - Get a long teaspoon (for the peanut butter). - Get a fork (for the pickles). Now, stand next to the counter and use the fork to pull out a baby (mini) pickle. Take a small bite. Chew slowly. As you're chewing, use the teaspoon and swipe a small bit of peanut butter. Put that in your mouth at the same time. Enjoy. Repeat as necessary. Possible additions: Milk. Sauerkraut Sammich - Toast a slice (or two) of whole-grain bread. - Pull out a bag of shredded mozzarella (or shred yourself). - Put a nice layer of mozzarella on the bread. - Nuke the bread for 1 minute (or until melted). - Add cold sauerkraut to the top. Using a single slice of bread, fold it in half to keep in the juices. Double slices of bread you can make a normal sandwich. Possible additions: Milk. Give some to the dog who's probably sitting next to your leg about now.

I don't follow. They are cracking down on the converted cars or the LHD cars? What is full rego?

Okay, I see. Similar with smog-inspections and stuff here. Over a certain age.. they don't have to comply with the new laws.

Anyone know if a LHD 240z is legal to drive in Australia? Can you drive LHD cars around there?

But, it looks like that auction is in USA... Double that price for AUD. Thus, this engine should be $3,500 or so....

Yea, totally lucky it was a RHD. If it was a US spec car... that driver would have been dead. That price seems to be pretty high for something that you can't fix and make run again. I guess they could part it out and make more money.
  19. Sounds like it might be a rocker or valve....

There are a bunch of butterscotch (brown?) interior pieces on Ebay at the moment. Do a search on 240z and scroll down to find it.... Here's an example. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2402956827&category=6769 I don't know this seller, but, I know these colored interior pieces are hard to find.
  22. I would love to see a turbo-diesel Zcar....

Oh sure... I was loving every minute of it. Roughly half price on everything! But, if that price was doubled... no biggie. But, consider that I'm making US money. What if I was making AUS money? I don't think the salary comparison is double in AUS for the same position. So, anyone living in AUS has to pay a lot of money for a car. Let's say an American moves to AUS and takes a job for roughly the same salary. Suddenly, the budget for a car payment goes from $250/month to $400/month so they can drive the same car! I'm not trying to make anybody feel bad. But, that's something I noticed when I was down there last year. Living in a country like AUS shouldn't cause car prices to double just because of import fees. That's totally outrageous. Our government is totally screwed. I imagine this is a result of a pretty shoddy Australian government as well. Shafting the people they rely on.

Yea, sorry about that. :tapemouth But, I really want to get to the bottom of it. Why are they so expensive down there? They could control the vehicle economy by charging more money for exported vehicles. I've been doing a bit of research and a $20,000 Toyota Rav 4 in US would cost over $30,000 AUD. Does the government have a big control over the price of cars in AUS? PS: I do have to admit that you guys take cars more seriously than most of us Americans. We seem to take a lot of things for granted... that's one of 'em.

I've noticed that prices for cars are expensive even though they aren't considered luxury or sports cars.
