Can someone get a screenshot of that sequence? I can't seem to make it work. Anyway, it looks like a later-model (280z?) becuase of the large bumper in front.

Hi all, I'm rebuilding my wiring harnesses. This is a big chore and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy the plastic ends. The ends I am speaking of consist of multiple wires coming into a single recepticle (either female or male depending on the end).

Good one Oz. I stopped after three. Sorta like the infamous "Don't push this button" link on a web page. After pressing it, the system opens thousands of new web pages and finally ends up crashing the computer. I fell for that one a few times. -- M
  4. Check with the guys at http://www.classicdatsun.com . They were chosen as a shop (by Nissan) to restore Zcars to their original condition. Talk to Les and tell him that I sent you (Mike Gholson). If they don't have a car for you, they can restore one.

echo, you are correct. The first click turns on the running lights. When you turn on the headlights (2nd click) running lights should stay on as well.

Nice... Thanks Keith. I sorta figured you'd be the first one to answer this... [m]
  8. It should come off. Maybe someone used an epoxy to install it? hehe Anyway, the manual is correct, you don't want to bend the edge of the pan with a screwdriver. But, be careful wacking it because you could bend the oil supply pipe inside the pan. I've always had good luck hitting it a few times, prying with a putty knife (see other posts), and then hitting again a few times. You could try to cut the gasket with a xacto blade, but, be careful not to slip and cut your wrist! :cheeky: -- M

Hi all, I was wondering where I can find more information about racing in Oregon? I would like to start going to races as a spectator and possibly help in the pits during events. Any idea where I can start looking? -- Mikey

What if they cut off the roof, sealed up the interior, and waterproofed the floors? They could have a riding hot-tub!

I'm really into this show on Discovery Channel called "Monster Garage"... looks like a totally fun operation! So, who's going to donate a Zcar to the process? I'd love to see these guys rip apart a classic Z and turn it into something sweet. Any ideas about what we should do to it?

I'd be up for the Shasta trip. Should I get going on my marathon project to finish the Jedi by that time? Even if it's not finished, I'd be up for a road-trip like that. Maybe more people from the NW will consider a convoy down that way. Hell if the Z isn't finished, I'll ride my bike. Here's the link to the Shasta event. It spans from Thursday through Sunday. Nice long one!! [m]

Yea man... we want picts. I'm a poor redneck from the North who couldn't make it to the show.

Have to admit I'm the first to vote on this one. I selected "Sure, not sure which one..." Last year I went to the MSA Nationals and had a GREAT time. But, I wasn't able to make it this year. This year I'm considering the large convention. I wouldn't mind doing the Shasta trip as well. And, there's a local show here in Portland that might be fun.

How many of you are planning to attend a Z event this year? Any Zcar get-together, show, or race counts... let us know which one!!
  23. I'm in the PAC NW. I'm just South of Salem, so, a Portland meeting is fine with me. If we did a Portland meeting, maybe some of the people in Washington could attend? It would be fun to do this a few times a year. I've noticed that there are quite a few Z-car people here in the NW, but, things just aren't that organized. Every year there is a small get-together up near the Columbia river, but, that is usually swamped with Roadster owners. You guys want to get something going? We can use this site to attract attention to it. I've always thought it would be fun to set up a huge Zcar event like the MSA show, but, I don't have the resources like they do. I think it has to start as small get-togethers and then blow up from there. -- M PS: I also asked people about a NW Zcar Drive (tour) a few years ago and had quite a response.

Depending on the type of backfire... I only know of two ways it can affect your engine system. If the backfire comes out of the carbs, it can cause excess strain on the carb mechanisms and loosen things up. Not to mention that it will cause fouling. Backfire through the exhaust can be hell on your muffler. I had extensive backfire after rebuilding an engine some time ago... the backfiring screwed up my muffler so bad I could see 'bulging' of the metal. I had some pretty bad backfires going through it before I discovered that my timing sprocket (under the distributor) was put in 180 degrees off! BAM BAM BAM!! Loud as hell..... muffler is dead. Anyway, depending on the backfire you can cause different types of problems.

Hi Bonnie, I'm assuming you have a building or garage in mind? Next, what kind of work will you need to do? Doing general maintenance is a lot different than pulling engines, rebuilding transmissions/rear-ends, etc..... If you can see where I'm going... this is an open-ended question. Some people spend $10,000 while others spend $1,000. I've even seen people (cough... 2manyZ's... cough) who assemble whole buildings just for their Zcar projects. [m]
