tokico 254 suspension kit tooo high
If you are replacing the springs, I highly suggest that you replace the strut catridges. Buy the cartridges that are designed to go with the springs you already have.

Dynamat installation
Holy crap!! That is heavy stuff. There are three types of noise supression in automobile applications. They are listed as Acoustic Loss Factor, Absorption Coefficients, and Transmission Loss. I don't know what the test-ratings of your (1lb) product might be, but, you can check out a good comparison of a few products here: http://www.b-quiet.com/compare.html The B-quiet stuff looks to be about .33 - .35 pounds. You don't get into the full 1-pound until you add the thick products which are applied to the hood, firewall, and other barriers. I wanted to cover my metal surfaces with the lower-weight product. And, the other heavier products will be applied to my firewall and probably the underside of the hood.

Dynamat installation
Hi Guys, Thanks for asking me into the thread Gary. Well, as it ends up... I think I purchased around 3 rolls of 10sf. The smarter way to go about doing this is to buy a SINGLE 50sf roll. It's cheaper in the long run if you want to do all parts of your car. The Brownbread stuff is a lot less expensive than Dynamat and I think it installs easier too. You can see my gallery photos of this project by clicking on the following link: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3067 I believe a 50sf roll will do the entire car. Edit: The link to B-qiet is: http://www.b-quiet.com -- Mike

zcar.com car of the month!
Yea, the zcar of the month sorta died. It's really hard for me to keep all of this up myself, so, I rely on volunteer time to get it back going again. Most of the volunteers from the last round just quit on me. One of the volunteers had to go off and fake his own death just to get out of it. haha... Anyway, we are in need of people to keep this going. Anyone want to do it? -- Mike

Screen Names - Where Do They Come From?
Mine is a difficult one. A long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away.... There was this couple who decided to give me a name after their best friend.... And, so the legend continues............. :bandit:

Custom Wiring Harnesses (Part 2)
I doubt the MSA fusebox was an extreme investment. It is a simple circuitboard. We design these kinds of things at work all day long and it's a very simple process. Simply need someone with the knowledge to design the board, a program to create the schematic, and a company to create the prototype/final boards. Soldering the components is also easy with the right tools. But, if we always looked at all the variables and never started with a "Version 1" then nothing would get done. I say we should start with a bone-stock harness. Build it and they will come. No way... I think we should let someone without skills and no passion to get it done. Ship it to India!!! Heh, just kidding. Anyway, this is a good idea and I hope it comes around someday.

Meaning of life?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention or arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body.... BUT Rather to skid in sideways, Chardonnay in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO - WHAT A RIDE!!!

Obscene shipping costs
Guys, like with any kind of contract... get it in writing before you make the deal. I would never pay for something without a written estimate of the cost. If the details aren't disclosed up front, don't proceed with the deal. If you do it anyway (or make a mistake by forgetting this tidbit of information) then it's your fault. FYI on the shipping costs... UPS/Fedex seem to be everly increasing their costs. UPS gave me a cost of $8.00 to ship one of our hats from Oregon to Texas!! Talk about a high price margin! Ugh. The good-ol' postal service charges us $5.00 for the exact same item. So, keep in mind that shipping isn't as cheap as it was 5-10 years ago. -- Mike

How much $$ have you spent on your Z ?
This is a poll inspired by "daddz" in the general chit-chat forum. Thanks for the idea daddz!! All credit is given to his idea. I just wanted to make a poll out of it so we can keep track on the main page! Fun!! EDIT: Merged the daddyz thread to this one.

How much $$ have you spent on your Z ?
Good question! This thread almost needs to be a front page poll. At the moment, I have over $11k invested (err... spent) on my '71 240z. And, it's still a shell!!!!

MidwestZ??
Guys, she might have deserted the Z-business for various reasons. IMHO, it wasn't done the right way, but, it sounds like she might have given it up. Whatever the reasons, I believe she had a great little business and her methods were TOP notch. Now, after reading this thread, am I to believe there are a few members of this site that have sent her money and have not received the parts? -- Mike

MidwestZ??
Man, this situation is pretty freaky. Now that we can go back through the history, we can see it was a sudden thing and it doesn't appear to be foul-play because minimal people were affected (ie: not a screw job). Whom-ever is shipping products for Chloe appears to be doing it out of obligation. As soon as the obligations are met, I have a feeling it will cease all-together. I'm just guessing here, but, this evidence makes me think that either a sickness or death (direct or indirect to Chloe) was to be at fault here. Is there a way to search the obituaries in that area? -- Mike
