You would not want to leave your hatch in primer for too long. It will rust. Get some finish coat on there, even from a rattle can. Paint the whole hatch before you put the glass back in. Do you know how to put the glass back in?
  2. Hey there Glassguy. Your auto most likely has a 3.54 diff, which coupled to a five speed, makes a good combo in my opinion, and a good touring car. Mine is turning 3000 at 60 MPH, so i seldom use 5th cog. I might drop it into 5th at around 70 MPH, but seldom reach there.
  3. If you had the vacuum line off, perhaps you have fitted the one way valve around the wrong way.

Welcome. Love the remark. These little cars with a good shine, a clean interior, and a smile, are definately a chick magnet. My chick still loves ours.

Here in New Zealand our cars have to go through a check every six months, and they go through everything, and also check suspension and steering components with a bar.

A vacuum leak in the brake booster??? Block off the hose, and try it.
  7. I found a huge reduction in the fumes entering the car, when i put sticky tape around the edge of the hatch lid inspection panel. That's one of our little guys in my avatar. We have two.
  8. I have a black plastic valve cover on my 72. Definately not stock, but i like it. I pulled it off a Nissan Laurel at Pick a Part some years ago. The advantage is that it has a flat 'o' ring type gasket sitting in a groove, so it does not need changing when i pull the cover.

Hi Charlie and welcome. I have a 72 as well. RHD Brian.
  10. We are in the middle of one of the driest summers I can remember, and hot.

Yes the passing of a dog can leave a huge hole in our hearts. We sold a Bichon Frise' puppy to some people, and it chewed up the leather back seat of their Mercedes 350 SLC. Should have had him in a traveling crate eh.:stupid: Edit. Sorry a bit off topic there.

I did the same, (made up a longer slave pushrod)

If it will hold the car on a hill, then it is pretty good. Thats good enough for me as we consider it a parking brake down here. Yanking the handle and trying to lock up the rear wheels will result in cable stretch.

    What next.!!!
  16. Some years ago i installed the rubber from Black Dragon, back then Victoria British. I assumed it was right as i had nothing to compare it with. It fitted and sealed well.
  17. Welcome to the disease. 240Z is the way to go. Enjoy the journey, but beware of the tin worm .

I had a similar problem, and simply made up a shorter thrust rod for the slave. Worked for me.
  19. Condolences and prayers to Enrique's family. Brian.

I agree with Ksechler. Lube the protruding end and press the pin back in then out. Otherwise get that sucker real hot. I hope i never have to do mine. I helped a friend some years back, heat, pounding, etc. He ended up taking them to a shop with a good hyd. press.
  22. Interesting thread. Has the body work come to a halt?
  23. That sounds like a good plan.

Pounding them out with a drift will probably not work if they are too tight to pull out. The pounding can actually swell the ends, and make them tighter. They need to be pressed out.
  25. Describe a terrible ride.
