Mark - I too Googled RC Automotive and went to Google maps https://www.google.com/search?safe=active&client=firefox-b-1&q=rc+automotive++ALEXANDRIA+VA&npsic=0&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=38846955,-76900636,4853&tbm=lcl&ved=2ahUKEwi-6aH7yvPeAhWDylkKHbvBDUoQtgN6BAgAEAQ&tbs=lrf:!2m1!1e2!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:2&rldoc=1#rlfi=hd:;si:;mv:!1m2!1d38.872400899999995!2d-76.8469954!2m2!1d38.821509299999995!2d-76.9542771;tbs:lrf:!2m1!1e2!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:2 and it showed a RC Automotive machine shop located NE of RC Automotive, turned out to be the one. He can supply the data on the cam as long as I can give him number that they etch onto the end of the cam. The numbers that I was able to get off the rear are not what he was looking for. He stated that they sometimes etched the number on the front of the cam (it is a arse #). He believes that it is most likely a "Super BL1" which he said was a mild street cam and the one he most commonly ground. Again, thank for helping out.

I contacted RC Automotive machine shop (301-350-8408) this morning and spoke to Roy. He verified that the cam was one that he had ground. They are still in business but they do not do new cams, he will regrind existing cams, but stated that he cannot compete with new grinds do to the low cost of the imports. Mark , just want to say thanks for your help.

Mark - I did read Jeff's post and it was what made me decide to look into the cam in my car. I think I''ll contact RC and send them the pictures to see if it was a cam that they might have fabricated. Thank you for pointing me into a direction which will hopefully have a positive outcome.

1977 280Z that I picked up this past summer. The PO had a cam installed by Eddie Radatz of e.radatz motorsports in Georgia. I called him and he remembered the car and what work he had done but didn't have anything on the cam specs. Just wondering if anyone can help to identify the cam. Thanks
  6. Do you still have the diff mount?
  7. Great tip on the bushing. I ordered the EXEDY 06009 from Rock auto. Thanks for all the input.
  8. Looking at this one, Rock Auto (EXEDY 06009. Has anyone by chance installed one. Thanks.
  9. Zed Head - Thanks. Searched for "slave cylinder popping out" but couldn't find it. C could you post the link. Secondly, can you recommend a good Clutch kit that includes clutch, pressure plate, and bearing.
  10. I purchased a 1977 280z this past summer and doing a complete mechanical rebuild. I pulled the trans today to replace clutch and throw out bearing. I then remembered that the PO stated that he had the trans ungraded to a 5 speed (I believe from a ZX). My question is what clutch plate and bearing should I order? Or are all 280Z/280ZX 5 speed the same. Thanks for your help
  11. Zed Head - That's the one I've been looking for. Thank you
  12. I've read on this and other forums that MSA's gasket seems to fail more often so I was looking for an OEM with round exhaust ports but everything I found had square ports. I have a 77 with a P-79 head. I'll check and see if there is a part # on the MSA gasket.
  13. I've been looking for a good gasket to use with MSA header (round exhaust port). Not so sure about the MSA gasket that was included. After searching I came across this https://www.ebay.com/p/Engine-Block-Cover-Gasket-ITM-09-50527-fits-76-78-Nissan-280Z-2-8L-L6/74968871?iid=302786175086 and was wondering if anyone has used one. I like the metal around the exhaust port. I know a lot of people recommend Datsun OEM but it does not have the round exhaust port. Appreciate the input.
  14. Me neither. I can't believe that all the aftermarket manufactures have stopped making it and the one's that are available are ridiculously priced. I did find a used one for $50 but I'm a little hesitant as it is 35 years old. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay up ?
  15. Site - Thanks for the input. I searched for Ultra Power p/n UPR PR8 and they must have discontinued, no luck. I guess I'll just keep searching or maybe even try blocking off one of the pipes on the 280Z FPR.
  16. I have been searching for a 280ZX Fuel pressure Regulator and with the exception of one for $200 - $500 I can't seem to find one. The Beck/Arnley 158-0091 model seems to be out of stock every where I check. Can anyone help me out and either direct me to a vendor or sell me one. Thank you.

WOW.... Zhead I never thought of that. That could be my answer. I think I should try that for a couple of weeks and see what it yields. Thanks for thinking outside the box.

Ok. After doing some more research and reading I think the suggestion to use POR 15 is the winner. I have cleaned out the tank with Evaporust and its is really clean. I was wondering if I need to use POR 15's complete kit, marine cleaner, metal and sealer or can I just add the sealer? Thanks for all the input.

In the process of rebuilding my 77 280z. Pulled the tank and cleaned out the rust. I am not going to be reinstalling it until at least next year so I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to how to store so that it won't rust again.

That looks like a good deal. I think I'll make the purchase and keep mine as a backup set. Thanks or all the help.
  21. Was researching fuel pumps and came across this thread, Very interesting. So I started googleing "Bosch 0580254984" and came across this pump. Here is the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Electrical-Fule-Pump-With-Install-Kits-for-Porsche-Volvo-Benz-450SEL-911-924-/322645466079?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0 It looks identical to the Bosch but who knows. Has anyone tried one of these?

    They were tested with 38psi

So mine would be 100cc/min? Or is a flow test that NAPA performed different than actual flow during operation on the car? Also, looked at the injectors on The Z store. They do look similar but no numerical identification. Still leaves me wondering who manufactures them and what are the specs. Thanks for the input.

I have a 77 280z that I purchased this summer for a winter project (or longer). Working on the fuel system so I decided to take the injectors to NAPA to have them rebuilt and cleaned. All good just one injector has a wider spray pattern than the others but flow rate was consistent, 49, 48, 49, 48, 48, 49 ML for 30 seconds. First, I can't find anything on the flow rate for the injectors, Secondly can't find anything on the injectors. Here is a description\of the injectors: Light green ( Turquoise ) plug with markings that say RAM, RIM-116, 7016. Would appreciate any input. Thanks
  25. So I should just order studs for exhaust and bolts for the intake.
